Howdy all, I received this message below, & got permission to post here. Can any of you CCs help or direct him to the proper place to search? Bettie <>< ------------------------ Subject: Columbus H. Beams, U.S. Army, died 2Apr1944 at Fort Gordon, Ga. (Murdered) Date: Sat, 15 Feb 2003 13:15:20 -0600 From: Fred & Marje Davis <fmdavis@texoma.net> To: nana321@txucom.net Hi Betty. We present day relatives of Columbus H. Beams are searching for an obit or newspaper clipping regarding his apparent murder. We have been told he was found in a nearby river. He is buried in the Ringling Cemetery, Ringling, Jefferson County, Ok. near his father and brother. We are searching for evidence regarding his death. We do not know whether his killer was caught/found or what. Can you direct me to the place or provide an email so I can have someone look for newspapers clippings? Any expenses will be paid. Thanks so much for any assistance. Fred in Sherman, Tx.
One suggestion is to contact the court clerk who handles the Criminal Court Files for that State, County and ask that a transcript of the trial be sent to you. Also check with the Coroners reports which may be filed in that county court. And ask for copies of any hearing regarding the trial. The newspapers in the area may have the information on microfilm which you can obtain a copy of that film from the believe it is the University of GA. Sorry but don't have the email address in front of me. If you know the date of the crime then you will know what film to order. The films are between $12.00 to $20.00. You can also if not mistaken can order a copy of the film to be sent to your local library on interlibrary loan if you do not want to purchase the film. Best wishes in finding the material, Gloria ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bosque Lover" <nana321@txucom.net> To: <GAGEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 22, 2003 1:04 PM Subject: [GAGEN] CCs--HELP > Howdy all, > I received this message below, & got permission to post here. > Can any of you CCs help or direct him to the proper place to search? > Bettie <>< > ------------------------ > Subject: Columbus H. Meant to mention if he was murdered on base it would make a difference about where the records would be. If it was procescuted by the military or civilian police. If on the base you would also/or need to contact the base provost martial? not sure that I am right on that but the head of military police on the base could point you in the right direction.
