In trying to further research a Masonic Lodge that disappeared out of Fayette County (moved to Coweta), I discovered in my own "library" a book that I did not even realize I had. It is titled "Masonic Biography and Dictionary" compiled by Augustus Row, K.T. and printed in 1868 by J. B. Lippincott & Co. of Philadelphia. It is mainly a dictionary and biography of well know freemasons but it includes the following lists - All Lodges in the United States (as of 1868), all Grand Chapters (as of 1868) and all Subordinate Encampments (1868). Some of the interesting information found in the dictionary/biography sections are histories of when the first freemasons were in certain areas or states, etc... If any of you would like for me to send all information from this source that is pertinent to your county (counties), please email me.....and be patient waiting for a reply. I will get to them all, it just may take awhile. {And yes, I know, I could just transcribe the whole book as it is 135 years old, but.....it is also 365 pages....so I doubt that is going to happen for a while!!!} Linda Blum-Barton

How about Coweta? <grin> Tim
I would appreciate anything on Wilkes and Taliaferro. Also from a personal standpoint, anything on the Hammack or Garretts. Known to have been in Cowetta, Fayette, Wilkes, Taliaferro, Harris, & Newton Counties. Hopefully it has a name index. If not, don't go to a lot of trouble. (If you ever decide to part with it, I sure would like a shot at it. (I am Web Master for the Grand Lodge of Mississippi. I believe that my GG Grandfather and his brother may have been raised as Masons in Georgia. They were already Masons when the lodge in DeKalb Co. Alabama was formed. Thanks for any help.
