    3. Hi all. I have been CC of Rabun County since Fall 1998, but don't think I've ever introduced myself to anyone (except Donna and Virginia, both of whom I pester with questions). Color me anti-social! :-) I am a full-time Mom, part-time bum with one son, two step-children, and a husband (a professional soldier) who hogs the computer entirely too much. We live in rural Alabama, but our hearts are still in Rabun County GA and Macon County NC where the rest of our family lives. We plan to move to the Columbia, SC area in September. "Hubby" will be a Drill Sgt. there, and I hope to go to USC and finish my degree in Archaeology...no surprise there. :-) I have been researching my family history (and others) for the past 17-odd years, but only seriously in the last 10. Someday, I will probably crack down and become a certified genealogist. Right now I am content to putter. Current Rabun County projects: 1860 Census (HTML version; someone else is doing the text version), Marriage Book D (1884 - 1895), and Deed Book A (which, by the way, mentions many other GA counties). I have so many brick walls that my husband is beginning to complain about the construction dust. But, the one I'm stuck on right now is Cleracy Miranda Fletcher, born September 1856 in Georgia. She married (dates and place unknown) to Andrew J. Curtis (son of Amos and Neoma Curtis from Rabun County). Andrew and Miranda were enumerated together on the 1880 Census of Fannin County GA. By 1900, Andrew was deceased and Miranda had moved the family to Macon County NC. She died in 1919 in Monroe County TN. Miranda might possibly be the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Morgan Fletcher. This is a recent theory; haven't had much chance to prove or disprove it right now, but hope springs eternal! Yes, I plan on voting...as my husband risks his life every day protecting my right to do so, it would seem the sensible thing to do. I hope everyone takes the time to participate, even those who disagree with the need to vote.
