I am Christine (Soffe) Martin. I was born and raised and live in Florida. I joined the GAGenWeb in January 2002 as cc of Calhoun County. I have been doing genealogy for over 9 years and focusing on Georgia for 5 years. Most people here probably do not know my name because I will not comment on what is going on this board. There are too many political and personality troubles that are getting in the way of what I joined this organization for. I have a very bad soft spot to help other researchers find that missing link. I have a bad habit of doing look ups and going way beyond the book that I was asked to look in, just to see if I can find anything else. It drives me crazy to have to write back and tell a researcher that I couldn't find any info. I have been trying to get some information up onto the Calhoun site, but resources are limited at this time. My current ambitious project is to create an every name index of the 1920 Calhoun County census. My brickwall's? That is too funny. I have more than you would care to imagine. Happy hunting!! This list is composed of those who were CCs as of March 20th. At some time in the next few days an announcement will be made that voting will commence. It is my understanding that the vote will take place over a 10 day period after which time the results will be announced. As such, it is imperative that we know that you have received your ballot. I have asked Richard to set up two email addresses - one to be used if you receive your ballot and one to be used if you do not receive your ballot. With 128 eligible voters, myself excluded, the Guidelines require that 96 people vote to have a quorum or legal vote. I remind you that you have the absolute right to speak your mind by NOT voting. If we do not have a quorum, it will send a message to the AB that you believe they have handled this situation improperly. With all the issues that have been plaguing us since January, I have been remiss in introducing some of our new CC's, and I apologize for that. In an effort to bring us back together as one group dedicated to making free resources available to everyone, I invite everyone to send a short note to the list, telling us a little bit about yourself - your name, your hobbies, where you live and the current brickwall you are seeking, for one never knows when another listener has what you are looking for. Hopefully, in this way, we can return to our tasks and move ahead. Welcome, new CCs. I am Jeanne Arguelles, CC for Madison and Oglethorpe Counties (where my GA ancestors lived c1780s-1920s). I live in Texas with my husband, two children, dog, cat and four goldfish. Before I got married and had kiddos, I coached and judged gymnastics and helped my mom run her gymnastics club in Chicago. Now I'm a "gym mom", carting my own kids to practices and meets. Sometimes I'll bring along some wills or a cemetery book to flip through, causing me to get some strange looks from the other moms who are reading "Cosmo" and "People." <g> My GA Brick Wall: Nancy, wife of Solomon Bridges. She was born in GA between 1770-1780; married Solomon Bridges mid-1790s, probably in the Wilkes County area (?); they lived in the Goosepond district of Oglethorpe County by 1809. What's her maiden name?? Who are her parents?? Jeanne > Dear Volunteers for GAGenWeb, > > Yesterday the National Board approved the list that will be used for the > vote.
