Michele, Wonderful article. I wish everyone would do the same! If we all tried in our little sections of the world, imagine what we could do! Frequently many of us are not interested until it is to late. I did the same with my family. <sigh> Now when I want that info, many family members are gone. We have a cemetery where I live in Michigan, that was used by the county poor farm. Now it's in the hands of a private party. The guy that owns it, wants others to believe that the graves were removed, and he wants to make an easement thru that area. I'm sorry folks, but, even though I don't have family there, I would not want that to happen to my folks. I am trying my darndest to find some records, other than the few I have in my township office, to establish who is there. I want the township or county to buy the land from him and when all sources have been exhausted for who is there to put a memorial stone on the small section of property. Maybe they won't know exactly where their family member was buried in that section, but there should be a memorial to them, giving them some closure. Guess I'd have to say that you have tapped my passion as well. After reading your atricle, I will be back at it on Monday with more energy than ever. Thanks Michele for your wonderful story and your love and concern for our ancestors.
