    3. Richard, You said - "Before we have any further discussion of the recent round of accusations, I would like for the accused to have the opportunity to make their statements and then we can decide how exactly to proceed. I take these allegations very seriously and I share in the concerns that have been expressed to me privately and those set forth on the list. However, part of being above-board and even-handed requires that we hear (read!) both sides." I believe these accusations should be addressed by all before any further work is done by the guidelines committee. I was just contacted by the contact person for my region for my ideas/suggestions and I believe that the guidelines "project" can not and should not move forward until the present issues are resolved. Tim has provided me with the password for the list and has, essentially, appointed me moderator for the time-being. For the duration of this appointment, I can assure you that *NO ONE* will be placed on a moderated status because of their opinions or because what they have to say differs from the positions taken by those in a position to moderate. Of course, the regular rules of decorum (including not flaming and the prohibition of the use of vulgar language) must be followed. But, please rest assured that you will NOT be placed on a moderated status because *I* disagree with your opinions (of course, if you say I am ugly and my wife dresses me funny, well, then, you might find yourself moderated without regard to the fact that you have stated a truth that I agree with <maniacal grin>). So, within reason, let's chat. Before we have any further discussion of the recent round of accusations, I would like for the accused to have the opportunity to make their statements and then we can decide how exactly to proceed. I take these allegations very seriously and I share in the concerns that have been expressed to me privately and those set forth on the list. However, part of being above-board and even-handed requires that we hear (read!) both sides. Thank you, Richard --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. FWIW, I have not been contacted by "my contact person", but had I been, I would have said basically the same thing you said in your post, Linda - we have urgent business at hand at the moment and a guidelines revision should not have to take a back seat in anyone's mind - it is too important. Right now, there is one issue that takes precedence, and it must be resolved, IMHO, before we can focus on anything else. Sweeping it under the rug is not going to make it go away - not this time.
