    3. When a CC links to the actual files which are in the Archives and they by pass the main Archives link for that county archives site isn't that bending the rules? wasn't there some complaints from some of the Archivist that CCs needed to link to the main page for that County Archives site? If that is the case seems that McDuffie County is not in compliance as there is no link to the Archives that I can see other than links to the pages within the archives where the records are...and you can not get to the archives from that page you must go back to the McDuffie site and leave the McDuffie site to go to the GAGenWeb to find a link for the GAGenWeb Archives...So what say you Archivist. If all of our material is in the Archives can we bypass your County pages and deep link to the records by passing the main Archives pages? Seems some of doing just that and they are the ones who seem to be happy with placing their material in your Archives. ----- Original Message ----- From: "kim gordon" <kimeye1@hotmail.com> To: <GAGEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 09, 2003 11:56 AM Subject: Re: [GAGEN] Ok, now I am mad > Hi Liz, > > I have placed many files in the Archives myself and have nothing against > them, but what do you think about CC's who steal the information and make it > look like their own? 3. I handle it by providing a link to the Archives main page and by linking directly to the file that I am making available through my pages. I have never had any complaints from my Archives person about this. Of course, I also ask people to send things to her AND to me for contribution purposes as it creates a second copy - a back up, if you will, in the event that I ever surrender my page and my successor chooses not to use the material that is there.
