Thought I would share some of what Chuck and I did over the week-end. The Family History Center sponsored a Family History Expo at the Roswell, Georgia location that was open to the public for free and all the Historical Societies in Georgia and other Genealogical and Historical Organizations were asked to participate (free) with booths. This was a wonderful event, we met so many wonderful people and made so many contacts in this arena that we were very much pumped to work on some of the ideas that we gathered there. We were there on behalf of the Alpharetta Historical Society, and also had a booth for GaGenWeb. We placed brochures for both USGenWeb and GaGenWeb and several sheets of documentation in re to how to navigate and find information in this project. We also highlighted the Special Projects and some individual projects. I met some wonderful people from the National Archives, the State Archives, the History Center, software vendors, online genealogical and historical groups, one software and gen. group and I also met the Afrigeneious webmaster. All in all we had a wonderful day. The Alpharetta and Cobb County Historical Societies were the only "brick and mortar" societies that showed up for the event. If any of you are interested in participating in another one of these events, please zip me an email to ltlbit@springmail.com (don't reply to this email, direct it to the springmail addy), I will put you on the mailing list - Please include virtual email addy - virtual address for project you want the info for, and a Physical mailing address for hard copy mailings, along with a phone number for volunteers to contact you in coordinator efforts. It was a huge success, I think all of the vendors came away with a good feeling, I will submit some of the items here that we received feedback on in re to this project, and there was a feedback form that they could fill out and return back via email or mail if they did not do it there. This was a unique experience with classes, plenty of time to browses the booths, and just the nice informal atmosphere was wonderful. Chuck will be placing some photographs online for the Historical Society, and some for the GaGenWeb project from this event. So, if you want to participate in a "overall" great project of sharing and creativity..... send me the email ltlbit@springmail.com NOTE: I will be unsubbed from this list for the remainder of the week, if you have a crisis, please contact Margie Daniels or Tim Stowell.
