Ummmm, I would like to know what was stipulated that needed to be fixed? If it was *her* county being critiqued like that *in public*, I bet she would not be as happy about it. And, on that vein, would you prefer that site compliance notices be sent via the GAGEN list than privately? Also, while you included one person's correspondence to another, did you also include their response? Hard as it is to believe, we are all on the same side here. Our goal is to make genealogical data available to people on the internet for free. Do we all have that goal? If not, why not? Richard, I believe the majority of County Coordinators in GA GenWeb do have that goal in common. I also believe the majority of County Coordinators in GA GenWeb have brought their sites into compliance with the Georgia Guidelines that were voted on by the County Coordinators in 2002. I also believe it is a disservice to ALL of the County Coordinators in GA GenWeb for there to be county sites that do not meet the guidelines as egregiously as some. Go look at the website in question. What is your opinion? It has been "public" for 4 months. Are you proud to have it as part of GA GenWeb? Linda, I have not looked at that site, and have no intention of doing so. I am too busy working on various counties and projects together with my RC duties to have time to police other people's pages. I am certainly glad that you and others have sufficient time on your hands to visit other pages. I know that I can rely on you. :) Regardless of the above, my point was, and remains, that the proper mechanism to make these concerns known is to address the CC, his or her RC, or the SC and ASC *privately*, and not publicly on the list where doing so is only going to upset some, embarass others, and run others away from the Project. Ummmm, I refer to the cc's posting on 6/21 when she's pleading with the SC to tell her if her site is in compliance and if not,, why not,, asking for guidance on what to do to fix the site. I didn't post anything that hasn't already been posted by that CC herself so I don't feel as if I was violating her privacy. On that vein, yes,, I personally would prefer that site compliances be posted to the list publicly rather than to send me a vague personal message telling me my site is not in compliance without giving me any idea why it isn't or what I can do to correct it. It is indeed often hard to believe that we are on the same side here. I think most of us started out with the goal of putting information online for researchers and some of us still hold true to that goal, but I think a few have ended up with the "kudos" "power" "title" corruption and just sort of lost site of that goal. I want to put records online for researchers and I will continue to do that, but that doesn't mean that I want to sit back quietly and watch power controlling people walk all over the volunteers that have made this project what it is.
