I can only say that for those who took my message as personally offensive I apologize, I was not trying to offend individuals. Having been through a rigged election already I personally want to see us get beyond that where it is less likely to ever happen again and I just happen to think letting the EC handle the election would better ensure that. As for individuals spending their time transcribing we should remember as CC's that though there may be 50 cc's maintaining GAGenWeb there are 1000's of people out there who are the backbone of the project, not us alone. Those people may only share one obituary but it's still their contribution and most of those people share across many states, not just GA. They do not have a say in the project at all so I do think we owe it to them to be as professional as we can, you can take offense to that if you wish but I personally don't think there is anything offensive about being or at least appearing professional as an organization. Keith I am one of those that go into #usgenweb on IRC and where or how you get the idea that the project is being run from there is beyond me. I must be blind as I don't see anything of the sort and if anyone is inclined to believe such a statement I can only suggest that you visit that channel and decide for yourself. I am trying to see that the GA CCs get an elected SC at all times, except in cases of resignation. If a term ends it should be filled with an elected SC WHEN that term ends. Period. Secondly, I believe in GAGenWeb first and foremost. USGenWeb is an organization bent on maintaining the status quo of cronyism (the project is actually run from an IRC channel called #usgenweb) which is kept in place by condoning and actually encouraging apathy and laziness in the project's volunteers. Until USGenWeb becomes something to which I can be proud to belong, I will maintain my pride in belonging to GAGenWeb and working to better Georgia genealogy research. >Debra Crosby > > > >-----Original Message----- >From: Keith Giddeon [mailto:[email protected]] >Sent: Monday, June 06, 2005 2:19 AM >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [GAGEN] BIZ SC election > >Debra, > >What does my argument have to do with what you just stated? Debra, I spent 5-6 years in that channel. I speak from experience. I have seen USGenWeb run from that channel on may many occasions. The Logo Contest was conceived, discussed, and pretty much decided in that channel late last year. --Keith Debra Crosby wrote: > I can only say that for those who took my message as personally offensive >I apologize, I was not trying to offend individuals. >Having been through a rigged election already I personally want to see us get >beyond that where it is less likely to ever happen again and I just happen to >think letting the EC handle the election would better ensure that. >As for individuals spending their time transcribing we should remember as CC's >that though there may be 50 cc's maintaining GAGenWeb there are 1000's of people >out there who are the backbone of the project, not us alone.
