I would miss the chatter. For me it helps to know the people that I am working with and may need to call on to help with the website, a mailing list etc. Admittedly I don't work from home, but as with many of you I spend much of the day on the blessed machine either writing documents, running analyses, answering e-mail, and sometimes playing games. Computers are a major time consumer in our lives, and just as with the telephone we can choose to answer a call, or not. we can quickly scan and delete and simply delete a message as unread. We are trying to build a community with this group and that generally means occasionally sharing events in our lives and welcoming new comers. When my father had his accident four years ago, and then his death this summer, the community that had developed on one of my county lists was a great help and support. This organization was developing that community, after a little shaky beginning. It is sad to see that delicate balance falling apart. Deborah Byrd
