Kim, Ed, Bettie, Bob, and any other members who have recently had good news announcements on the list, Let me clarify the reasons why I really need a change in the way the list works, and I feel others will agree. First, I want to read the announcements. ALL the announcements. It's just that for the sake of sanity (and being able to read all the posts) there has to be a change in how it is performed. (Also, some of the down-thread posts really could be sent privately, but I won't argue over that issue.) Some of us work from our computers during the day and we use email filters to help us sort what needs to be read as priorities dictate. At present I consider official announcements from the SC a priority. But, I do not consider the friendly announcements one. So, I'd really like to be able to filter those emails to another folder for later reading. Which may be 2 or even 3 weeks later. This would make them marked as "unread" and I would know what has been and hasn't been read. My intention, and that of the others who agree, is not to stir any pot or to cause any strife in the project. We simply wish for a change in the way the list works. What is so bad about that? Instead of sending/receiving mail to or from GAGEN-L it goes to another list name. I really don't see the problem when it would help many of us out enormously. If there has been offense taken at these suggestions, I apologize, for that was not my intention at all. So Kim, I ask that you please reconsider and I hope that my clarification of my reasons for agreeing to a change in the lists operation will be enough to suffice your reconsideration. --Keith kim gordon wrote: > I apologize for making an announcement about my grandbaby to those of > you that just don't care. > > It seems to me that the some of the same people that were stirring the > pot before are stirring it again. Keith, If you only wanted to read announcements, then all you would have to do is read mail from Vivian and delete all other mail. Some of us feel like family here and want to participate and enjoy some of the good things that happen to our extended family. We didn't have that chance before and we were finally coming to enjoy the GAGenWeb and interact. Not to sound disrespectful here, but, if you have time to sit in chat rooms, I would think that you would have time to hit the delete key. I, for one am so very sad to see Kim leave.
