A user has complained about not being able to access any of the links on the Hall co. GAGenWeb site. http://www.rootsweb.com/~gahall/ She says that any link she clicks gives her this error message: Error 403 You are forbidden to access this site and then goes into details about spyware. Does anyone have any idea why she would be getting this error message? Thanks, Dan Pierce gahall CC
I also use Firefox and had no problems getting to the main site. There's a link checker at: http://validator.w3.org/checklink that I find quite helpful. Running it on the main site looks good so far. You can run it so that it goes thru all the pages in your site to check for any broken links ... but I didn't find any links that gave me an error message. Dan, I don't recognize the error message but I was researching on your site night before last and accessed numerous pages with no problem using MS Internet Explorer. I just checked again and don't see any problems either. I have run into this issue on random sites since switching to DSL but it seems to be something to do with my router and/or the firewall for it. It ends up pulling a router specific screen up for me to respond to test it. I haven't ever really resolved any issue with it. I never run into this with rootsweb so I am guessing it might be her firewall, adware, virus, spyware and/or browser and not your site. I was also able to get into the site. It is probably that the user has her internet security settings set to high (she would need to open her browser, click on Tools, then Internet Options, then privacy and check to see what setting her web browser is set to. I have mine on medium Or she could actually have spyware on her computer.
