Nola, Everette and Martha, Our Thanks for Helping GAGenWeb with our Election! If there is anything that I can do for you all you need do is ask. Thanks Again! Well look what I have woke up to this morning!! Thanks to Vivian for agreeing to be our ASC for another term. I want to say the people have spoken (like them politicians on TV always say but they are NOT saying it for me) So I wont say it. I will say Thanks to ALL of you for all that you do for the Project but mostly for the researchers after all they are the ones we are trying our best to help, well I think so anyway. I want "us" (one person cant do it alone) to make The GAGenWeb Project the Crowned Jewel for Genealogy of Georgia. I have high hopes for the new tools that Roger (Tift Co) has put in place for us to use. We are moving up it seems keeping up with new technology (other than that CSS that I have yet to learn). I am always around if any of you have any questions or suggestions about the Project. I will do my best in my duties as SC of GAGenWeb. Again Thank you for allowing me to have another go at it. O Sylvia, I caught 1 little bitty witty minnow......and I put him on the hook! No fish were biting in sunny HOT FL last weekend but had a great time with my "old" brother. Congratulations Ed and Vivian! And thank you for your interest and hard work to keep this project ongoing. God bless, Donna Schwieder Hart County
Ed & Vivian Congratulations to both you and Vivian. My best for the Georgia GenWeb! Martha Election Committee and ASC for California
Ole Ed is probably out fishing this morning, and he won't even know that he's been reelected for another term! And what about congrats to VIVIAN, who will be our ASC again!? I'd like to hear their goals for GAGenWeb for this term -- and learn what we can do to help them achieve these goals. Sylvia/Pickens

Under the formal procedures of USGENWEB and the Committee, the remaining members elected me Chairman. I am now, at their behest, seeking candidates to fill this At-Large position. To be eligible, you must be a member of the USGENWEB Project or any Special Project with at least one year's experience. If selected, your membership on this Committee will be for two years. The primary responsibility of the Committee is to identify, select, train and supervise mediators to settle grievance disputes. That is, the committee members will not mediate disputes themselves, but will select and manage those who do. A member should have an even disposition, an ability to listen to both sides of an argument, and a willingness to recommend solutions and instruct others. Interested parties should communicate directly to me at my e-mail address below, with their name, contact e-mail and a paragraph with their background. I will present any such candidate [more than one if we have more than one interested] to the Committee for consideration and selection. We would think this is a fast-track process and certainly want and need to have it resolved in the next week or so. Sincerely, Bob Sweeney Chairman bobs@chall.com ******************************** A copy of this announcement will be sent to Board upon completion of the current agenda item, and the USGenWeb webmaster is requested to place the same on the announcements page. Linda, good question. These boards have the ability to archive forever (no pruning) or to cull messages and unused topics after a period of time. Right now, we have it set to archive.
The List is to communicate GAGenWeb business, and it's purpose and use should not change. The blog could be a way to get folks with special interests or skills to contribute to the state site. To communicate ideas or other learning ventures that folks don't want cluttering their list mail. For instance: We could create a category called The Georgia Archives. Linda or Vivian, or anyone who frequents the Archives in Morrow, could write a post every now and then on new collections, things they have found of use to the whole group, etc. Classes they may be having, etc. Someone (of the CC group) or more than one person who has an interest in Native American Research, or any Specific Research Topic could ask for an Author Logon and post jointly and/or severally any information, new links, problems, etc., that they may want to share on that topic. I could post some FAQs I always get about Cherokee research from folks who email Pickens. We could setup a topic called Online Training. We could let folks post about the classes they have found online -- like Lynda.com and the HTML Guild. And sites that have great interfaces for creating CSS by typing in the boxes and watching the results -- or sites that will create META tags. We might even invite guest columnists -- like someone from the State Historical Society? Who might like to log on from time to time and let us all know about some new collections they have -- or seminars, or research opportunities. So we would create a posting category for State Historical Society -- and give that person an Author Logon. We could have a post category on RSS Feeds and it could be Roger's!! (He'll just love that!) He can better explain RSS Feeds and tell of sources to find readers. Maybe even add information for how to subscribe to the State Archives website feed or other site feeds that he may find of interest to Georgia GenWeb folks. Note that this board is open for anyone who registers to comment on a post. So, all CCs can participate to the degree that they want to. They can ask for a category to be set up for their use -- or they can add comments to a post made by someone who is an Author or Editor. Ed
Thanks everyone who worked on this. It's a great idea. Will the messages be archived there forever or will there be turnover after a period of time or number of messages? This is a wonderful resource. Thanks to those who made it possible. We have such talented people. I will add a link to my Lincoln County page. I would suggest an African-American category. I have a number of people asking me about how to research slave records. We certainly invite CCs to let us know if other categories could/should be set up in the Bulletin Board. Anyone (in the world) can register to post. And it's simple -- about an hour after the board went live this morning, we had a 'guest' logon and post a surname query! You just click "Register" and fill in some information -- you set your own logon/password. And then you post! It's that easy. We were hoping that CCs would kinda watch the board -- just look at it when you have any free time. Ed and Vivian can delete posts which may have inappropriate language. Hopefully, that won't occur. But if anyone sees something off-color -- let us know.
