My users who go to the Military page want to know why the black sticker is there. It reads " If you are not outraged, you are not paying attention" Some take it as anti - Bush Some take it as anti - WAR Then if they click on it and see the BOARD-L mailing List, they write to me. http://www.rootsweb.com/~gagenweb/records/military.htm
On 3/10 - Joyce Dixon, CC for Evans County tendered her resignation from GAGenWeb. We wish her well in her future endeavors. Tim

I have also had my posts to a mail list copied in its entirety to another mail list with a link but not a name. When I tried to post to update it, I was blocked by the mail list owner. Some of these things may be "legally" correct. Morally? Donna Parrish
In an effort to prevent any more conflict in GAGenWeb at the moment, Seana, you might want to check with Carol and Leah before you place any files on the county site. I do not know how long you have been with GAGenWeb, but there was a lot of confilct about files from that county at one point and I trust that you do not want to be caught in the middle of any renewal of such a conflict now - and GAGenWeb certainly does not need any more "issues" at the moment, IMHO - Carol At 08:22 PM 3/8/2003, AnaesRetluoc@aol.com wrote: >I would like to commend Margie Daniels on the exemplary job she did >retrieving 122 lost files for Talbot County. Let me clarify due to a private email. I was offering a source to contact submitters to resubmit and failing that to link "as is". Donna Parrish
http://www.archive.org I went and pulled the old information from Talbot after speaking to John Adams. He was not happy that the material was deleted by Carol Johnson. He knows Carol personally. I retrieved the material that had been submitted by others and the records that had no submitters on them. When I looked most of it is in the archives. I guess Keith or someone pulled the info and placed it at the archives since that is what an old page said at the archives. I pulled them and sent them to be included on the page and not on the archives. I did not check all the files to see what was in the archives and what was not since the material was submitted by others Carol cannot claim copyrights. I did check and find that all the cemeteries are on the archives but I think they need to be on the county page. Have you ever had material taken by the archives without your permission? I have had material copied from my pages and placed at the archives and had to have others tell me it was there. Great work Margie. Can you tell me again what the url is to check for old files? Seems like a great idea to go back and try to retrieve those old ones. I decided to make use of the internet archives to add a Memories section to the Forsyth County Genweb page see http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaforsyt/gagen/ Donna Parrish

I would like to commend Margie Daniels on the exemplary job she did retrieving 122 lost files for Talbot County. Over the next few weeks, I'll be adding them to the Talbot County GenWeb pages. Thank you Margie! Seana Coulter Talbot CC
One problem that can often occur is that if someone is already playing music and end up at a website that automatically plays music is that the computer can freeze up. If one is lucky all they'll hear is the 2 songs overtop of each other. For this reason - not presuming what my visitors are already doing on/wit their computer when they visit my sites - I'm against music/vidoe/programs on pages that play automatically and could interfere with already in progress actions. Each person of course though is entitled to their own views and practices :) Derek Nichols Echols County

Claire - I agree with you on most counts. Especially about Jay Leno's mother-in-law - although I am sure she is a lovely woman. [lol Can you imagine her doing a Internet search of +"jay leno" +mother-in-law and coming up with this reference!?] If people really pay attention to the content and music on my personal site - they will see a connection to the music I have chosen for specific pages. (<A HREF="http://mkharrison.com"> First page</A> (remembrance 9/11) - Bring Him Home (Daniel Rodrigues ...singing NYC policeman; <A HREF="http://mkharrison.com/Home.htm">main page</A> - Sentimental Journey; <A HREF="http://mkharrison.com/Html/OldSmyrnaCemetery.htm">Cemetery</A> - I Remember You; <A HREF="http://mkharrison.com/Html/BethlehemGAUMC.htm"> Bethlehem UMC</A> - Libera Nos; etc) About copyrights, etc. I have contacted most of the artists - or record labels - and told them I am using their music. They encouraged me to do so - I had already put links to them on my pages so if people want to purchase the music they can. It has been my experience that if you do that - they are more than happy to have you showcase their music. I really can't think of "appropriate" music for genealogy sites. Autumn Leaves? or Heitor Villa-Lobs' "The Baby's Family, No.2" Who knows - I guess some families would warrant titles like: "<A HREF="http://www.sing365.com/music/Lyric.nsf/songUnid/66659048EC4BE9A548256B030028FF6A">Family</A>" by Pink I need to find something to do today - I can see I have too much time on my hands right now! :) MK Harrison <A HREF="http://mkharrison.com">mkharrison.com</A> <A HREF="http://www.rootsweb.com/~gabarrow/">Barrow County, GA</A> <A HREF="http://www.ancestry.com/landing/homelandsweeps2/landing2.html?SourceCode=3913&iid=3913%3A+Sweepstakes+1">Ancestry.com</A> I don't know what kind of weapons will be used in the third world war, assuming there will be a third world war.
