    3. I appreciate the volunteerism here today. I am overhwelmed and am thrilled to have been proven wrong. However, the call has not yet been sent out for volunteers, nor was I authorized to put the call out. I stated that we would call for volunteers AFTER the election has been completed. Subject to, and without waiving the foregoing, I will lobby our SC for permission to form the Committee now, that we may begin this very important task. Please feel free to continue to volunteer. If more than six people volunteer, then I would be forced to select from the list of those who have volunteered. I would prefer not to have to do that because that might upset some people, and I am not looking to do that. I have the following who have volunteered: Vivian, Jan, Jacki, Debra, Derek, Donna and myself. So, we need at least one more person. I do not want to limit the volunteers, only the actual number on the committee, as too many on the committee would make an already onerous task impossible. What I would be willing to do, however, is assign one volunteer to handle each region of the state (meaning we would need eight total volunteers), and have them more or less act as "representatives", seeking ideas from their constituency and bringing them to the committee. For those in the Coastal Region, I have noticed that only one of your has volunteered (hint, hint, hint). <grins> Alright, so I am gunna favor my own people. I know them. I respect them. I enjoy working with them. (They are the BEST region in the State project, afterall). Richard

    3. Donna, I have previously challenged anyone to give me a date on which a grievance was filed with any of the RC's (who make up the Council). If a grievance was filed, please advise me of the *exact date* that I may investigate this. If, in fact, a grievance was filed that was not submitted to the Council, then there is a serious problem with that part of the process - one that I would want to fix instanter. So, in order to help me with this, I again state that, if a grievance with the Council was filed, please advise me of the exact date on which it was filed and with WHOM it was filed, so that we know what part of the process to fix. Otherwise, let's work the entire problem and solve the entire problem. Donna - you may want to adjust the clock on your computer, as your email is being postmarked several hours before it is sent, which makes it difficult to read because it was hidden among emails I had previously read. 3. Jan, Your name is third on the list of volunteers, even though it is against my better judgment <grins>. For those who don't know and can't tell, I am kidding. Donna, I am taging onto you message here.... so don't take it that I am 'shooting' at you. <gbg> This list is a requirment for being a cc. This list should be used as a vehicle to carry on the business of GAGenWeb. I know that it has become a 'shooting gallery' at times in the past, and people have begged off of it. But..... you need to know what is going on with the project. Maybe you don't like all the politics envolved. You do need to be aware of what is happening and when it is happening. There are those who feel that an error was made in judgement on the removal of the cc's. If that was not put on a public form, and you were made aware of it, then you may find yourself facing something simiular. Politics are not fun, or at least not to me... <g> but I like to keep up with what is happening so I can keep the pols on their toes. If people think you are not watching them, they will try to pull things that they shouldn't. So. lets keep the 'management' on their toes. Let them know we are watching. They will be much better for it. <g> Wyndell Taylor > > >==== GAGEN Mailing List ==== >USGenWeb's motto is - Volunteers dedicated to free, online information. > >

If the cc's could have known the work, tearing out of the hair, the crying, and all the other 'stuff' that the committee went thru on that particular decision, I don't think they would be so quick to judge. My archives show some 933 emails pertaining to the decision made in this case. However..... having said all that to defend that decision, I do not know all the background on the other incidents that brought all this forward. I understand the need for information to be contained within a committee, and not all released to the public. It is good to see the ones who want to volunteer to work on a guidelines committee. Since I am not a member of the council, I can not say what this group has in mind. But I hope that they take this opportunity to use the cc's to form some committee's to work on some of our problems. I feel that this would show that there is not a big underhanded effort to abuse, and misuse the cc's. > >However, in order for the grievance to go to the NC and the AB, the state >remedies must be exhausted. The state remedies were not exhausted. To Tim and the RC's: Make an effort to use some of the cc's to help improve the project. I know that each of you have a lot to do, and could use some help.

    3. That's absolutely true...the Rabun Co., GAGenWeb records page is just links, but you were wrong in saying that they all are Archives links. There's a reason the Rabun County site is set up in that manner: the GAGenWeb bylaws encourage copyright violation of the outgoing CC's material (I argued and voted against that particular bylaw). When that measure was voted in, I removed my personal material, leaving only information that I feel is necessary for the county site, such as addresses, books, etc. Many of the links you'll find on the records site are to my personal site, the rest to the Archives or other sites around the Internet...where ever I found pertinent records, that's what I link to. I am not the only CC who has removed their personal research from the county sites, either, and most likely for the very same reasons. What I said to you was said in private. If I had meant for the whole list to see it, I certainly would've posted it there. A personal attack on the list by you against me was completely uncalled for, and unprofessional to boot. In the future, if you have a problem with me, I suggest that you take it up in private, because you will not like what I have to say if you pull a personal conflict onto the list again. >From: John Holback <john2936@comcast.net> >Reply-To: GAGEN-L@rootsweb.com >To: GAGEN-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [GAGEN] Your Welcome....common sense is sometimes better than a >high iq >Date: Tue, 08 Apr 2003 15:12:09 -0400 > > > >Dawn Watson said: > >Virginia and her staff...Horrors!...just so they could take over my county >pages. > >Folks go look for yourself...Dawn's page for Rabun is just a lot of >links...there is not content...just a page that serves the >Archives...Gloria > > > >==== GAGEN Mailing List ==== >USGenWeb's motto is - Volunteers dedicated to free, online information. > _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
