    3. Don't give me to many hugs! Appreciate them, but, I think that the AB has been torn over this problem as well and we haven't done the best job in handling it either. Personally I would rather it be solved in some way at the state level. I guess I don't have the answer but would like to see the guidelines committee. Maybe a member or two at large on the GA Council, a weekly or monthly chat to discuss problems. It's my personal opinion that the GA CC's know what is best for them and should find a way to work together rather than having to resort to the National Board that is not privvy to everything at the state level. But this again is just my personal opinion for what its worth. Now I'm of to bed. Have to get up early for work and have just come from a board meeting. I be tired! <grin> Talk to y'all tomorrow. 3. Hi Michele, Yes, the USGenWeb is well aware of the problems here in GA. A petition for removal was submitted by some of the CC's in GA. and it was forwarded to the AB. You might want to subscribe to Board-L@rootsweb.com to look at the actions of the AB. You are not able to post, but will get copies of all the email of AB sent to the list. Another thing that you might want to do rather than subscribing is to read the Board-L Archives. http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/board The Archives will give you a look at all past email related to discussion of the GAGenWeb situation. 3. I will volunteer, but not for a committee...my husband stuck a big sign on my forehead today that reads: DOES NOT WORK WELL WITH OTHERS And when I went to change into my sweats, I found another sign on the back of my shirt: CAUTION: Stand back at least 100 ft. due to flying verbiage (Husband not responsible for damage incurred) So, no committees for me. I understand the need for information to be contained within > a committee, and not all released to the public. There lies the heart of the problem. We don't know. We didn't know. That line to walk between confidentiality and letting people know. Err to far one way or the other and there are problems. But at the same time, people can only work with what they know and are told. The less people know, the more they fear. It's human nature. I've said publicly more than once that we are here today at this stage because of Secrecy. I stand here and say that when CCs are removed and fellow CCs are left guessing what avenues for defence were available to them before they were removed - that we get scared. It doesn't matter if that is the right reaction or not, it is the human one. I am sure I am not alone in this from what I have seen here. But the expectation that we just need to follow along and assume that a decision was tough and it took 900+ messages to reach an educated decision is a very unrealistic demand to make on volunteers. As is the assumption that we won't be curious or in fear we may be next. Derek Nichols Echols County

    3. As a relative "newbie" here...only two years, I hesitate to step up and volunteer among all of the veterans but I would be glad to help in any way I can. I believe I have enough experience as a CC to bring something to the plate that will be helpful. Just let me know. Unfortunately, I have more free time now than a year ago! I am self employed as a Rebar Detailer out of my home and the economy is not being kind to our industry at the moment! I am CC for two counties, Fayette and Henry. I was born in Fayette County and my Mother's family had been there since 1824 and there are members of the family still residing there. I graduated from high school in Henry County. I now live in the beautiful Appalachian mountains in Boone, NC. I have one husband and two children. My husband is a boiler maker welder and is on the road alot. My son is 18 and has no clue yet! My daughter is 14 and a freshman in high school. She plays fastpitch softball which takes up quite a bit of my time and is about to embark on a trip to Europe next Wednesday with her Latin class for 10 days....Germany, Austria and Italy. Wish it was me! I have no brick walls in Georgia, unfortunately, they are all "across the pond" and a couple in Pennsylvania.
