    3. Tim, I would assume the Linda Lewis used the same procedure for applying for a Trademark as the Census Project did some time after Linda filed. The Census Project was able to apply for the Trademark in the Census Project's name and still have a point of contact in a person's name. Why couldn't Linda do it that way, unless perhaps she purposely wanted it to be in her name? 3. Virgina, In all due respect Linda needs to send her apology to the list and Tim can forward it. I would not want you speaking for Linda and assuming what she may be thinking. You know what happens when you assume. Another question is that Linda Lewis applied for the trademark for the USGENWEB archives in her name, do you know if she got it? I also wondered why she applied for it in her individual name and not the project name. Do you happen to know who holds the trademark for the census project? I understand it was once part of the USGENWEB project but someone scooped the trademark and now I think if I read the statement correctly that that project does not belong to the USGENWEB project. 3. Sylvia, At the moment, the vacant RC position has not been advertised. In fact, there is no intention of filling that position until after the election process has been completed and a determination is made as to the future of the GeorgiaGenWeb Project. This is a decision which is based on the fact that it makes no sense to fill that position until such time as we know what will happen with the election, since the RC's and the ASC's serve at the discretion and pleasure of the SC. I am not aware of any document or documents which set forth the requirements to serve as RC. Again, this is a position that is filled by the SC with the consent of the Council. To my knowledge, the primary requirements are that the person be a member of the Project whose pages are in compliance with the Guidelines and that the person be able to work well with the SC, the ASC's and the other RC's. Perhaps this is an additional issue to be contained within the amended guidelines. I would certainly be interested in your opinions on this issue. Would you care to send your opinions and suggestionds to me privately, off- list? Richard On Sat, 19 Apr 2003 17:55:43 -0400, Sylvia Caldwell Rankin wrote > [GAGEN] Regional Coordinator requirements

    3. Posting of private messages to a public list without the permission of sender is a no-no. Persons who persist in such will be placed on a moderated status. Gloria though did answer correctly - in that until the vote is announced next week and whatever subsequent fallout comes from that - no plans for the future will be announced, nor any changes in the Council will be made on my part. This RC position has not been advertised as vacant. Currently the ASC Brenda Pierce and I are taking care of that region. As I don't speak Latin I can only guess what the sub rosa means - please speak in plain English here. The interest page has been removed and each RC is keeping their own list of such and/or the SC and ASCs are as well. 1. [GAGEN] Regional Coordinator requirements
    2. Sylvia Caldwell Rankin
    3. This morning I asked this question on the GAGen list: "Do we have a page that indicates what "requirements" are to be a regional coordinator? If so, would someone kindly point me to that page, please?" I asked this question of the list objectively and with the expectation of a matter-of-fact answer or a URL. Instead, I have received two not-very-pleasant emails off the list -- the last one of which is headed with "Personal Email Reply -Sublato fundamento cadit opus" and starts off with "Private Reply: Not to be published on any Mail List in any fashion"....and additionally, this email admonishes, "Sylvia, there has already been enough hate mail back and forth on the list. Why can't you let the voting process get over with and the GAGenWeb Project have some time to heal. It most likely was on the list when each RC resigned and until this voting is over Tim most likely will not make any announcements. Please allow a weekend pass without messages which are laced with poison." My question is not "poison" or "hate mail"...it's a simple question. I'd still like for someone to make a response (on the list is fine--no private responses required) as to whether we have RC requirements listed somewhere in guidelines or on a website or however else we have officially established these??

    3. I feel as though this response suggests that I felt Michelle's request is being ignored? Perhaps I do feel that way (since the list has been full of all sorts of responses to emails before/after hers), but that was not the whole reason for my query. I personally felt that her question/statement/request expressed to the list was legitimate. Is the list not (also) for advertising vacant positions and discussing the business of the GAGenWeb project? I wasn't aware that the vacant positions (of any sort) were being discussed and decided upon 'sub rosa', but perhaps I just need to bone up on the rules here myself.
