I have just returned home this weekend from having surgery last Tuesday and have been really trying to wade through all the emails on this list off and on today. Can only sit here a few minutes at a time. As both an RC and a CC, I hope to be able to respond back to you all sometime later this week. Take care, Melody Moore McCook Coffee County, GA CC Atkinson County, GA CC GAGenWeb South Central RC

This is further proof of abuse of power. Like I said before - and will say again - if you don't vote - you don't have a voice. Not only for the outcome of the vote - but also to speak up to complain or give a pat on the back. The ones "in charge" made it clear they wouldn't vote in protest and to send a message to the national level. From where I sit, their not voting shows further evidence that they do not have GaGenWeb's best interest in mind. If they felt strongly about it - why didn't they vote against the motion? Because they are too busy being petty. The message is loud and clear at this point. Egomaniacal behavior is appropriate and encouraged in the GaGenWeb. But only if you belong to the rat pack. This whole issue is so high school it borderlines funny. I suggest we all meet on the playground at lunch and go at it. This is bully behavior. And it truly makes me ponder what the rat pack went through in their lives that has left them with this unnatural need of so-non-important-in-the-realm-of-things power. Last night Mr. Epperson sent a letter to Brenda, Margie and myself - alledging certain things - but offering no proof of such. Since it is rather hard to respond to something one does not know about, I responded to his blackmail letter asking for details. Since Mr. Epperson has instead gone ahead and published his claims far and wide - rather than the resignation of myself or Brenda or Margie - Mr. Epperson is hereby relieved of his position of RC in the Southwest Region and will subsequently be unsubbed from the RC list. Mr. Epperson's claims of malfeasance on my part and of Brenda's and Margie's are so much political posturing and pure hogwash. Mr. Epperson apparently doesn't believe in the use of a vote to solve issues - and thus he and his companions continue to try all sorts of ineundo to remove me not only from GAGenWeb but from the Project as well. ------------------------------------------------------via webmail---- Tim Stowell tstowell@chattanooga.net
Well I guess since I am going to throw my two cents worth in I will now be attacked. However, I am going to unequivocally state that I am and have been the real CC for Walker County Georgia. I did not seek the RC job and somewhat reluctantly took the position after Carla resigned. I did both care and take the time to seek Carla's reasons for resigning prior to being offered the position. She chose not to respond which is both her right and privilege. She and I had an excellent working relation while she was the NW RC. Being attacked seems to be the current way of life on this list. The vote basically failed due to a lack of interest not because there wasn't enough votes to either remove Tim or conversely issue a massive vote of confidence on his behalf. I do not believe that continuing to rip your garments and beat your breast over alleged wrong doing is going to be anything but counter productive for the project. There was a period shortly after the election that the list sort of quieted back down. Apparently that has passed. What is the point of having a non productive - non decisive election results thrown out. It was neither a mandate for or against Tim but rather a statement of what is happening with voting in this country today and that is basically the masses won't take the time to understand the issues well enough to have an opinion. It is especially bad in something as divisive as this has been since the general reaction to all the sound and fury is almost naturally going to be "I don't even want to know" Bill Clody CC Walker County RC Northwest Georgia Region ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carol C-H" <cch@netdoor.com> To: <GAGEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 29, 2003 11:50 AM Subject: [GAGEN] Fwd: Re: Voter Fraud and Deceit in GAGenWeb > > >X-Sieve: CMU Sieve 2.2 > >X-Authentication-Warning: ocelot.noc.ucla.edu: jfisher owned process doing -bs > >Date: Tue, 29 Apr 2003 08:49:28 -0700 (PDT) > >From: "FISHER,JOY R" <jfisher@ucla.edu> > >To: cch@netdoor.com > >Subject: Re: Voter Fraud and Deceit in GAGenWeb > >X-Spam-Score: 0 > >X-Scanned-By: MIMEDefang 2.31 (www . roaringpenguin . com / mimedefang) > > > >As a result of this development I am recommending to the EC that the > >results of the GA Recall be invalidated. > > Carol C-H <cch@netdoor.com> http://www2.netdoor.com/~cch/ > > > ==== GAGEN Mailing List ==== > This list is for volunteers of the GAGenWeb Project. List protocol is covered in Guideline #19. Standard procedures on most lists are that when a person is on moderation - another member may not forward notes to the list from the person on moderation thus circumventing the first person's moderation. Anyone who has done so has also been placed on moderation as well. The moderation for a first offense is one week. ------------------------------------------------------via webmail---- Tim Stowell tstowell@chattanooga.net

Hello All, If you live in the Atlanta area, or even if you do not, you probably have heard of, and benefitted from, Ken Thomas' genealogy column in the Atlanta Journal & Constitution. It has run for 26 years, and has been *the* means by which genealogists in the Atlanta area get their genealogy news. At events where participants are asked where they heard about the event, 90 percent consistently cite Ken Thomas' column. The AJC is threatening to cancel the column, citing budget cuts, although the stipend is quite small. The AJC editor has said that, if response is great enough, they will not cut the column. This column is very important to genealogists. *Please* write or call editor Mike Lupo. Mike Lupo at 404-526-5487 mlupo@ajc.com Thanks, Vivian Price Saffold Meriwether County 3570 Hildon Circle Chamblee, GA 30341

Carol, I am not at liberty to discuss that information. However, I will state that he was unhappy with the goings-on in GaGenWeb over the course of the past few months. He feels that there is a great deal of hypocracy and he feels that it has been a bad experience. He is upset at having been placed on a moderated status. I can understand his position on that. It is my hope that we can make changes to those issues that upset him.
