Thanks to whomever placed my name in nomination for the SEMA CC rep post. I am honored, but I must respectfully decline. The guidelines revision committee and my Meriwether page are as much as I can handle at the moment. And, there are several other excellent candidates to choose from. Donna, Wow! I am so glad to see you were nominated for another position you felt you could accept. You are so knowledgeable about genealogy and research and have proven to be a voice of reason and I know you will do a great job for the whole project if elected. I wish you the best of luck and I also hope that everyone will decide to get involved in the upcoming elections for the sake of the whole project that we all donate so much of our free time to. Congrats Donna! You would have been a great NC. Perhaps another year? I too was nominated for Representative-at-large and accepted the nomination. However, Tim has in his files I have been with the project less than a year. Since I was Bettie Wood's assistant co for a while before taking Barrow County solely, the discrepancy may actually be days.... There are great people to support and I choose to put positive energy into getting them elected rather than fight. Like my ex-husband always said: you have to choose your fights. ;() I will sing Donna's words all the way to the polls. Please stay informed! If you aren't political, if you aren't interested - think of the project. This isn't about personalities and it isn't about self-gain. To the person who nominated me: thank you, I am truly flattered. It isn't lack of interest on my part that I choose not to fight this fight, it is the fact that there are bigger issues on the table. Richard, Since Tim seems to be away this weekend, maybe you could share with us your knowledge of why Bettie Wood was reported to be "ineligible" to participate in the upcoming elections by our State Coordinator. I would think that you would be privy to this information since you are an Assistant State Coordinator in Georgia GenWeb. I know this sort of information is normally discussed "in private"....."behind closed doors" in Georgia GenWeb but since it has become public knowledge now across the entire US GenWeb project, I don't see that it would hurt Bettie any further to let all of the voters know exactly why she has been ruled "ineligible" to participate in an upcoming election by a representative of OUR project. Apparently, in any other project she is affiliated with, she is in Good Standing. This issue does affect ALL of the county coordinators in USGenWeb in the Southeast and Mid Atlantic regions, including Georgia. I subscribe to "Daily Board Show" and feel that the language and demeanor normally used there is not appropriate for a State Mailing List that is a required sub for all county coordinators, which is why, I believe, Teresa has her own "list". Exactly what does Teresa have to do with GaGenWeb? Is she a Georgia County Coordinator too? I don't see her name on our list. Why is it when Tim has been called on something, onlymannannan@maclyr.com has a voice? Why are we not (again) hearing from our SC? The "political" discussion that was brought to this list yesterday was about a Georgia County Coordinator. If this copy and paste of others' emails was to prove something, it did. Once again, unrelated, non-Georgia items are being thrown out here in an attempt to distract us from the actual problem. Our (elected) State Coordinator has officially stated that a Georgia County Coordinator (Bettie Wood) was not eligible for candidacy in the upcoming election. She is a member in good standing and has been with the Georgia project for years (meeting the one year requirement). We are still waiting for an explanation. From our State Coordinator. A correction: we are waiting for explanations, as I am ready to take the rug up and throw it out. A little interesting reading material for those not on Teresa Lindquist's DBS. Richard ---------- Forwarded Message ----------- From: merope <merope@radix.net> To: Daily Board Show <dailyboardshow@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Sat, 07 Jun 2003 19:29:13 -0400 Subject: [DBS] Fwd: [BOARD-L] Grievance Rich Howland filed the grievance, in case anyone is interested. He's basically upset because the Board's cheap-ass pettiness is depriving the membership of the USGenWeb Project of their right to vote for whomever they choose. But of course, that is the entire point of the Board's pettiness. This is just freakin' silly. They are too gutless to do this in public, although I certainly don't mind if they do. And like Tim, I won't be invited to my own hanging so I won't get the opportunity to correct their fantastical tales about me.
