snip In other words, these new bylaws we are discussing "Each County or Special Project shall have no more than two (2) Coordinators. A person may be a Coordinator for no more than three (3) sites. " would or would NOT limit the archives to 2 people or count in the total of sites? Snip Since the archives are part of another project under the USGENWEB umbrella, their participation in the Archives should not affect their participation in the Georgia Project. Their participation in the Archives is the same as my participation with the Florida Project where I have two counties that I "manage". I don't have to give up my Florida counties to particpate in Georgia's Project. Deborah Byrd
A while back, we discussed the Vanishing Georgia Collection of photographs that is available online at the University of Georgia Web site. Several ways to access this collection were offered. Linda Aaron (Elbert) suggests one more: http://neptune3.galib.uga.edu Click on Digital Library of Georgia (right above Quick Help). Then, scroll down to Vanishing Georgia. Linda also points out that the Digital Library also contains many other documents that can be helpful to Georgia genealogy researchers, such as Georgia Legislative Documents and Southeastern Native American Documents. Thanks, Linda. Vivian
It has nothing to do with the archives, period. Special projects should be eliminated from the rules until the time when GA actually has a special project. Good idea, Donna. The Special Projects wording was added to give GAGenWeb the flexibility to have Special Projects in the future, if the membership so chooses. This subject has not been addressed by the Bylaws Committee, but here is my opinion: The GAGenWeb Project has no authority to regulate a anyone's participation in the Archives Project. l object to the proposal that there be only one vote per county, even if it has two coordinators. Every coordinator is allowed to vote in the national elections, even if the state rules are different. David The GAGenWeb Project Bylaws Proposed Articles A Work in Progress This page will show articles that the committee has approved for presenting to the CCs for comment, feedback, and/or voting. The articles here have not passed a vote of the CCs yet, and as such are not official. Article 3: Membership Membership in The GAGenWeb Project is granted to County Coordinators and/or Special Project Coordinators. The State Coordinator (SC) and Assistant State Coordinator (ASC) shall appoint County and Special Project Coordinators as described in the GAGenWeb Policies and Procedures. Each County or Special Project shall have no more than two (2) Coordinators. A person may be a Coordinator for no more than three (3) sites. A County or Special Project Coordinator may appoint additional assistants if desired. A County or Special Project Coordinator may be removed for cause as described in the GAGenWeb Policies and Procedures. Each County or Special Project Coordinator shall have one vote in GAGenWeb elections, regardless of the number of counties or special projects they coordinate. Assistants appointed by a Coordinator are not considered members and thus shall not vote in GAGenWeb elections.
