    1. [GAGEN] FW: [STATE-COORD] State brochures / hand-outs
    2. Ed Gordon
    3. -----Original Message----- From: state-coord-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:state-coord-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Joy Fisher Sent: Wednesday, February 14, 2007 12:27 PM To: state-coord-l@rootsweb.com Subject: [STATE-COORD] State brochures / hand-outs >From Linda Haas Davenport, chair of the FGS2007 committee Over the last couple of years different members, or groups, have asked for something (flyers, brochures, etc.) from the states to hand-out to visitors who stop by a USGenWeb Project's booth at conferences. Left over hand-outs from one conference were packed up and sent on to the member(s) who would be hosting a booth at the next conference. After the conference in St George (Joy Fisher posted information about that recently) the supply of state hand-outs has been exhausted. There are two conferences coming up - a conference in CA in June and the FGS conference during Aug in Ft. Wayne, IN - where members have committed to a USGenWeb Project booth and they are in need of state hand-outs. Having a state hand-out is such a great way to promote your state project. The hand-outs don't have to be professional printed or cost a lot of money. If even half of the CCs in a state were to print a few hand-outs and mail them no one would be out a lot of money. If you're interested in promoting your state to conference attendees please consider contributing hand-outs and talk to your fellow state CCs. If you'd like to "do something" but aren't sure what - at the FGS conference in Boston last year the #1 hand-out was a small colored, post card sized, map of IA, printed on heavy card stock, showing the county names and boundaries. We were continuously asked if we had such maps for other states. If you have questions or I can help in any way please let me know.. Feel free to forward this to any appropriate Project list. 1. [GAGEN] AB Motion 07-03
    2. Linda Barton
    3. There is a very important motion before the Advisory Board and we would like to hear from as many CC's on this issue as we can. The motion is concerning a Bylaws Amendment that will go to the full membership for a vote. The motion would present this Amendment immediately before the Membership for a vote. If the motion fails, then the Bylaws Amendment would not be voted on by the membership until our annual election in July if five states sponsor the Amendment. If you would like to browse the archives for the DISCUSS-L Mailing list concerning this matter, please follow this link: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/USGENWEB-DISCUSS/2007-01 Please let us know how you would like for us to vote on this motion. The new Grievance Procedures have already been approved. The initial Grievance Committee has already been approved. These actions will move the Grievance process away from the Advisory Board and before the Grievance Committee which will be made up of volunteers who are not Advisory Board members. In order to complete this change, the Bylaws Amendment is needed in order to make this a binding process for all parties involved. Our belief is that this will make this process more fluid and timely for anyone involved in a grievance and will give the County Coordinators of this project protection for all of the hard work that they do for this project. Linda Blum-Barton, SEMA Region CC Representative - lab56@bellsouth.net Suzanne Shephard, SEMA Region CC Representative - syshephard@charter.net ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- It has been moved by Mike Peterson and seconded by Phyllis Rippee that the following proposed amendment to the USGenWeb Bylaws be presented to the USGenWeb Project membership for approval in accordance with Bylaws Article XVI, Section 5. 3. -----Original Message----- From: state-coord-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:state-coord-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Scott Burow Sent: Wednesday, January 03, 2007 1:54 AM To: usgenweb-discuss@rootsweb.com; board@rootsweb.com; state-coord@rootsweb.com Subject: [STATE-COORD] Grievance Committee Members - Proposed Slate Please forward to all Project lists. ======================================== In accordance with the Grievance Committee Procedures, the Advisory Board has received and reviewed the qualifications and made recommendations on those members who volunteered to be on the initial Grievance Committee. The slate of committee members is listed below and will remain open for member comment for a period of ten days. After that date, the board will vote to accept or reject the slate based upon the discussions and member input at the first opportunity. We wish to thank all those who volunteered. As always happens when there are more volunteers than positions, the selection process was difficult. For the initial appointments to the committee we selected those members who either expressed life experience in handling grievances with mediation and arbitration through their employment, and those who have experience in training others. We also heavily favored those who have a familiarity with the process itself due to input into the committee or other processes similar to the GPC. These individuals have a hard job to establish the committee and to recruit and train volunteers. Individuals with experience in the area and with the procedures will help significantly.
