    1. [GAGEN] Festivals/Historical Events (second round)
    2. Hi, fellow CC's, I am wondering if anyone could share experiences of using Founders day, Centennial Events and local festivals as a way to promote your page? I have two opportunities coming up in the county I host- one is a founders day annual event and the following year a bicentennial of the county seat. I would like to use these events as an opportunity to encourage people to share historical documents & pictures, and family pictures as well. I could easily bring a laptop and portable scanner. Figure I should partner with the local historical society? Any and all input and suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Proposed Amendments to the USGenWeb Bylaws - February 20, 2007 The State Coordinators represent the smallest segment of the USGenWeb Project membership. Their members makeup approximately 5% of the membership but they are allocated over 25% of Advisory Board positions. The State Coordinators should not have a larger ratio of representation than the Special Projects and Local Coordinators on the Advisory Board. As the terms of the present positions for regional State Coordinator Representatives expire they will be replaced by the new positions of this proposal. Three (3) at-large representatives will replace three (3) State Coordinator Regional Representatives and one State Coordinator Representative elected by all State Coordinators will replace one (1) of the State Coordinator Regional Representative. With the above as reference the KSGenWeb Project is sponsoring the following amendment to the USGenWeb bylaws. Amend Article V. ARTICLE V. COMPOSITION OF ADVISORY BOARD which reads: "The Advisory Board membership shall consist of: the National Coordinator, four (4) State Coordinator Regional Representatives, eight (8) Local Coordinator Regional Representatives, one (1) Special Projects representative elected by members of the special projects, and one (1) at-large representative. All shall have voting privileges except the National Coordinator who shall vote only in the case of a tie. The regions from which State Coordinator and Local Coordinator Representatives are elected shall be decided by the Advisory Board on an annual basis." >From the above, strike three (3) State Coordinator Regional >Representative positions from the four (4) present State Coordinator Regional Representative positions and replace with three (3) at-large representatives positions and one (1) State Coordinator Representative position. The amended article will read: ARTICLE V. COMPOSITION OF ADVISORY BOARD "The Advisory Board membership shall consist of: the National Coordinator and four (4) at-large Representatives, elected by all members of the USGenWeb Project, one (1) State Coordinator Representative, elected by State Coordinators, eight (8) Local Coordinator Regional Representatives, elected by Local Coordinators, one (1) Special Projects Representative elected by members of the Special Projects. All shall have voting privileges except the National Coordinator who shall vote only in the case of a tie. The regions from which Local Coordinator Representatives are elected shall be decided by the Advisory Board on an annual basis." As terms of State Coordinator Regional Representative positions expire they will be replaced with the positions of this amendment. The first two State Coordinator Regional Representative positions terms that expire will be replaced by the one (1) State Coordinator Representative to be elected by all State Coordinators and by one (1) at-large representative. The remaining two (2) State Coordinator Regional Representative positions, upon expiration of their term, will be replaced by two (2) at-large representatives." Any project wishing to co-sponsor this amendment should advise a member of the USGenWeb Project Advisory Board so that their name may be included as a co-sponsor. The proposed amendment shall remain posted to the national webpage until the annual election. 3. Hi, Venita, GNIS shows Liberty communities in Greene and Early counties. Greene was organized in 1786, Early in 1818. There is also a Liberty City, two Liberty Hills, a Liberty View and a New Liberty. Vivian At 09:42 PM 3/13/2007, you wrote: >Hi, everyone! > > I've had an inquiry about an ancestor from Georgia. We have not been successful so far, and since it didn't specify Liberty COUNTY, I was wondering if anyone knows of a Liberty city, town, or community (past or present) within their county that may be where we need to search next. I found this to be the case in my own personal search for an ancestor - I assumed the listing on the old record meant the county instead of a community on the other side of the state! I don't know anyone that has had it done, but I know there is a website that you can upload pictures to, www.phojoe.com. The rest of the story on photo progression research - the response from one on my county lists: kemis Hum, at $199 a photo, I have two choices: Buy my own equipment and take what others in my situation think it is worth to do photo progression for them or; Since I can't find anyone living to identify or even take a reasonable guess, just drop a name at the bottom matching ages, sex, clothing and dates living to whomever is in the photo. After all, it's just another one of our many challenges, the financial one, but thanks to all of you who had ideas. I'm moving on to a different brick wall,

    3. Hey Yall, Our Amendment Poll ended Friday and the results have been calculated and are below. Yes Votes 15 No Votes 6 Not Voting 3 So, that's 71% (if the Math is correct) -- more than the 2/3 majority needed to Sponsor so I have written the NC and our SEMA CC Rep to inform them of the results. Thanks to all of you for ALL you do for the Project! Ed

The first two State Coordinator Regional Representative positions terms that expire will be replaced by the one (1) State Coordinator Representative to be elected by all State Coordinators and by one (1) at-large representative.
