    3. Marcene, My ggrandfather died in a field hospital in Atlanta. He is buried in the Confederate Section of Oakland Cem. in Atlanta. Try there. I have a relative who died in Atlanta during the Civil War. I was wondering if there was a way to find where he was buried. Let me Explain: My relative Henry McDonald Heflin--who called himself "Mack"--was in Co I, 37th Mississippi Inf . He died of sickness 28th Jan 1863, Fair Ground hospital No 1 in Atlanta Ga. He was listed on the roster as M. C. Heflin. I believe he wrote his name as Mc Heflin and recruter and subsequent persons wrote it at M. C. initals. My burning question is how do I find where he was buried? Does anyone know? 3. Also, there are many Confederate and Union dead buried in Marietta, Georgia, which is a suburb of Atlanta. I think it is a national cemetery. I have rode by it hundreds of times but have never been inside. Maybe someone can advise if there is a way to check on the names of soldiers buried there!!!! S.K. They have large numbers of burials , Tho a long shot they are still good place to look if not for anything other than the process of elemination. 3. For obits in Atlanta you can write to the Atlanta History Center, 130 Paces Ferry Road. NW, Atlanta, GA. 30305-1366 give them as much information as possible and they will search for an obit. The fee has been $5.00 but I haven't used them this year. I have had very good luck with them. Sorry I don't know anything about the Hollywood Cemetery. 3. Not sure how good of records are at Hollywood. I had a deed to a lot from 1940s and even with deed they couldn't find the lot, finally decided it was not even within the bounds of the cemetery. For the second question. The Journal and Constitution were both prominent papers during all of 20th century. I don't remember the dates that the various degrees of consolidation took place but during the 1930s they were under separate management if not separate ownership. -----Original Message----- From: Fillmoreb@aol.com [mailto:Fillmoreb@aol.com] Sent: Tuesday, March 27, 2001 7:09 PM To: GAFULTON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [GAFULTON] New member, Charles Benner, Hollywood Cemetery Hello, I am a new member to this list. 2. While going through some obituaries I had I noted another story regarding the death of Mrs. Winston Henry sister of Rev. W.H. Majors, pastor of Capitol Avenue Baptist Church and the injury to Miss Belle Catlett when they were struck by an automobile driven by R.L. Hurst. If anyone recognizes these names, they can send me email and make arrangements to get a copy of this story from the Atlanta Constitution. Feb 21, 1918; page 12. Diane.Casey@bull.com

    1. Re: [GAFULTON] New member, Charles Benner, Hollywood Cemetery
    2. Hello, I am a new member to this list. Is there anyone who knows of The HOLLYWOOD Cemetery? It was active in 1932,-1937,. but I cannot find any information on it. My husband's grandfather, CHARLES BENNER, was buried there on 10 Jul 1932, and in 1937, there was a MRS. CHARLES BENNER, buried there. Could someone tell me if they are in the same plot? Would there be any information in old cemetery books? Also, What newspapers would be the ones to search, for Obits? CHARLES BENNER lived in the Atlanta area from 1900 - 1932, but we can't find him on the 1910, or 1920. census. Any ideas? Thank you so much, Doris Benner
