I am putting quite a few things on the Fulton site, and a new site map, etc. to make it easier to search, will probably take me a few more days to finish proofing what I have typed and get it on line, put keep checking back. Clark Howell raised his family there except for 2 years about 1848 that he moved to Marthasville (Atlanta). He wanted to go back to the country (Warsaw) and sold his Atlanta lot (next to the Piedmont Hotel) to Dr. Crawford Long who was moving over from Athens. This Clark Howell's son, Evan P. Howell moved back to Atlanta about 1867 and retired as the President and Editor-in-chief of The Atlanta Constitution in 1897. Evan P. Howell was succeeded by his son, Clark Howell. You might want to look for your family as I recognized many Forsyth names that appeared on the 1850 Forsyth County Census. Examples: Martin Brannon (Parker Collins overseer who married Collin 's widow): Isaac Brumbalow Elisha Buis (Buice) Leroy Hammond Jesse J. Hanceford (This is a variant spelling of Hansard) Sydney Rainwater Also on the list is Hugh Montgomery who was Indian Agent to the Cherokees. The James Montgomery on the list is probably James M. C. Montgomery, Hugh's brother who operated a ferry at the Standing Peachtree on the Chattahoochee. Donna Parrish . ==== GAFULTON Mailing List ==== All messages are archived. I have not been sending these strange emails. I did have a virus and it was sending the emails to you all. I am deeply sorry - Have finally gotten it out of my system and just gotten my computer back from the technician. It so corrupted my McAfee Virus Scan that I could not delete it to install the latest version. It was BadTrans 32. Terrible. Thank you for your understanding and again I am sorry. Loney
Fredrick, Do you live in GA? The Cobb Co. central library has Franklin Garret's Necology on microfilm. I made copies of the Necology for Nancy Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Let me know if I can help you. Teresa Cheek quackers@mindspring.com The Atlanta History Center has a web page: www.atlantahistory.net

Gipson - I have a friend by that name whose family was from Alpharetta, Fulton County, GA. The next time he calls, I will ask if there is a connection. Second, The Fulton County Genconnect Boards are not gatewayed to the mail list. Donna
Hello, I'm new to this list, have a new lead bringing me to Fulton County, and hoping someone out there has a piece of the puzzle I've been looking for. My beloved grandmother is 90 years young and would love to know where her grandparents are buried. I've been looking for Hale GIPSON, but now I've learned from a distant relative that his name might have been George W. (Washington?) Hale GIPSON. His wife was Mary DEAN. A search on ancestry.com found death record of George W. GIPSON, Jan. 31, 1925, in Fulton County, GA, and a death record of Mary B. GIPSON, Oct. 1, 1923, in Fulton County. The time frame is about right based on my grandmother's childhood memory. Their daughter (granny's aunt) lived in Fulton County. Could it really be??? This could be a major breakthrough! Does anyone have any info on this couple? Cemetery records? Deed records? Wills? Anything? Would love to find their graves. By the way, I subscribed to this list 5/12. Received the e-mail notification that I was subscribed. I then went to the Fulton County, GA, Query forum at GenConnect and posted there because it was supposed to also be sent to this mailing list. 3 days later it still hasn't come through to the list, at least not to me. So...I've been patient as long as I can stand and I apologize in advance if it finally comes through and you receive this twice. I've been looking for Hale and Mary for so long and patience is not one of my virtues :-) Thanks for reading, Pam
I received a virus mimicing GAFULTO so I am passing this warning on. The file attached to this virus ends in .scr (which is usually a screensaver). I did not downlod the file as it was blocked coming to me. >From CENSUS-ANNOUNCE-L@rootsweb.com There are many instances of a virus that attaches to your email and makes it look like a RootsWeb list is sending them to you. The RootsWeb Mailing lists do not allow attachments. Like most viri, it's spoofing addresses it sees in the infectee's mail. (This particular one has been identified as W32/badtrans@mm) This usually happens without the senders knowledge and needs to be extracted. >From AHGP List NOTE: The thing is not an Outlook address book worm. It does not spread by the same method as the Outlook worms, but can spread from any mail program because it looks for unread email and reads email addresses from those email's. InoculateIT is the only anti-virus program that cleans it from a computer. Norton only quarantines the files, which doesn't remove the thing from your computer, and McAfee isn't effective. *******
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MY EMAIL MOMS ENJOY YOUR DAY TO THE FULLEST WITH YOUR FAMILY AS YOU CONTINUE YOUR SEARCH FOR OTHER ROOTS AND BRANCHES OF YOUR FAMILY TREE. http://www.nara.gov/genealogy/1930cen.html says The 1930 census and all existing soundex indexes will become available on April 1, 2002. Other info including how to search before 2002 are on this page. Donna Parrish, List Admin
No, the 1930 census are not out yet, I paid $50 and for that $50 all you can get is ONE person, they do not give any names of who is also living the household, each name cost $50! I think it is next year the 1930 census will be released. Jackie
I wasn't aware that the 1930 census records were out. Are they?
THANK YOU -- 7 x's over for all the responses. To all those GA Tech folks who are "probably having apoplexy" according to one response, apologies. That's what happens when your ancestors move off to Ohio...How 'bout dem Dawgs? How 'bout dem Buckeyes? Now that I have your attention...can anyone help with an earlier request re MARCUS A. (M.A.) BELL who served (1863) in the Collier Guards "for the defense of the city of Atlanta" and in 1864 in Capt Jackson's Co of GA Light Duty Troops at Atlanta? (Daddy never told me about this either!) > Does M.A. BELL show up in census records before or after the war??? > Was M.A. BELL married??? ANY information would be so appreciated. Again, thanks for your quick -- and sometimes funny -- responses to the stadium question. I've got it now!! Sincerely, Fran Bay tbay@columbus.rr.com
WOW Ann, thanks so much for the zip code that will be a big help, thanks jackie
