I am researching the surname Walker. My Walker family were in Smith Co MS in the 1850 census. Children of the family had been born in GA, AL, MS. It is also thought that the family may have lived in TN at one time. Rachel Walker was listed in the 1850 Smith Co MS census as age 52 born in SC. She was living with her son (my great grandfather) John Hersey Walker and his wife Frances (Wells) Walker. The younger couple had no children at that time. Later (and after the death of Rachel) this Walker couple and their three (or four) sons born in MS moved to Milam Co TX. They had a total of six sons. Four of the siblings of the family of Rachel Walker married with Westbrooks. It is believed that the Westbrook family was related to the Westbrook family in Franklin Co GA. I seek the name of Rachel Walker's husband and his family. It has been concluded (though not proven) that Rachel Was the daughter of Valentine and Nancy Martin. Members of this Martin family were living in Smith Co MS in 1850 also. Beth Walker Shipman
