Turner Family of Franklin Co, GA ca 1830-1852 I am researching the Lewis TURNER b abt 1790-1804 in SC who lived in Franklin Co, GA from before 1830 until he died about 1853 with wife, Keziah Payne and many children (as seen on the 1850 census). Keziah took the children to St. Clair Co, AL where she lived until she was at least 82 (on 1880 census). Two of their sons married daughers of my Hugh Mahaffey Henderson (b 1814 Laurens, SC, married Gwinett Co, GA to a Mary (Bonds or Kenney or Tinney) It was Moses Elijah Turner married NAncy HEnderson of Winston Co, AL and Asa Payne Turner married Elizabeth HEnderson of Winston Co, AL Moses died young of pneumonia and Asa and Elizabeth moved back to St. Clair Co, AL and died near mother, Kezziah. I would like to know the ancestry of Lewis. There are several Turners on the early records. Is his father John? There are so many early Lewis that it is sometimes confusing. There was another family of Lewis Turners who lived earlier (from 1830) in St. Clair Co, AL who were descendants of the Rev War Soldier of VA, Lewis Turner who married a Nancy Gailbraith in Union Co, SC. I have wondered if there is any connection at all to this one? Also, is there any Cherokee blood among the Turners of Franklin Co, GA? Thanks for any kind of Turner information.
