    3. Gale - I saw the following today while following a Shirley connection: Shoal Creek Baptist Church is the oldest church in Hart Co. GA, being organized before 1798. The name SHIRLEY is listed among the names of those who formerly composted the membership. Unfortunately, the church burned down to the ground in the 1980's. They were unable to save anything but the bricks that were around the name plate. The bricks were given to the church members to remember the old building. ==================================================================== . You might want to look at this site: http://www.shirleyassociation.com/hart_co_ga.htm That's where this information came from. I'm looking for burial place of Jonathan Pearman and his family. Jonathan's mother was a Shirley. Of particular interest is his daughter Letitia Amanda Pearman, who married John Guest and went back home to live in the Johathan Pearman household (in Hart County - Shoal Creek area) after her husband John died in Civil War. Letty Amanda and her young son William are on the 1870 Hart County census living with Jonathan, but she disappears after that....probably buried in the Shoal Creek area, but I've not been able to verify this. Please keep me in mind if you see anything on this line.
