    1. [GAFRANKL] "how to trace" land lots

    3. Hi List, this came from Jones County Georgia, Sure would be nice if we something like his going on in Franklin County, George H. Watkins has contributed to the Jones County site, his extensive work with Land Lots and Land Districts in the "original Baldwin County"....which became Jones County. http://www.rootsweb.com/~gajones/landlots.htm It is a wonderful example of "how to trace" land lots. Because he couldn't find documentation in court records, he began this work to prove how his ancestors obtained their land. Beginning with the drawing of the Land Lot in the lottery of 1807....he then traces each land lot up to present time. In some instances he used Tax Digests to complete it when deeds were missing. He has included land lot maps for this land as well. Another section displays the worksheets that he created. These are done by years, i.e. 1825, 1835, 1870 and show ownership of the land in a chart form, so that neighboring families can be identified. Be sure to take the time to visit all the sections. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
