I don't have any solid information for you but I thought I'd add what I do know. In the book, "The History of Hart County" GA that is, by John Wm Baker, he mentions a Jonathan Payne that had land next to my Elias Sanders in about 1805-08. If you do find a connection to him, I wish you'd let me know. My ancestor's land would have been on Lightwoodlog Creek in Elbert Co, GA which was Franklin Co first.
