    2. L Gale Sanders
    3. Hi, I have not followed up on any of the VICKERY'S in my line, but here is what I know. Julia "Juda" Vickery b abt 1800 married abt 1825, Elias Sanders Jr b 1797. This Elias is the son of Elias Sanders b 1775 and Mary Carter b 1775. Mary Carter was said to have been born in South Carolina. They must have lived on the border of SC and GA due to the land records of that time. This same area was FRANKLIN CO, which part of it became ELBERT CO, and which later became HART CO. I'm still trying to find or to follow the movements of my ancestor Elias and Mary Carter Sanders during the time they were in GEORGIA, and having a bit of a hard time. If you in fact think or find a connection to my SANDERS branch, please let me know. 1. Duncan G. Cameron
    2. David
    3. I'm searching for information, especially a will, on Duncan G. Cameron. My 3rd great grandfather was born in either North Carolina or Scotland, depending upon which records you believe, circa 1795. Duncan was a tailor and married Nancy Winters in Orange County, North Carolina on May 5, 1822. I have seen records of Duncan purchasing "3 adult Negroes" there in 1823, so he and his family must have been at least fairly well off. He and his wife moved to Franklin County later that year and Nancy bore her first son in that county late in 1823. The couple had at least 9 children together before Nancy died between 1844 and 1846. Duncan Cameron remarried to a woman named Sarah before 1847, the birth year of their son-- Thomas. Duncan G. Cameron apparently died sometime between 1850 and 1860. He is listed in the 1850 Census of Franklin County with his family, but is absent from the 1860 Census. However, I am not discounting the fact that he may have moved his family to another county. Duncan and Nancy's children: 1) William A. Cameron, born 1823, married Mary Pair September 12, 1844 2) Catharine Cameron, born abt. 1828, married Littlejohn Ingram February 22, 1845 3) Thursey Cameron, born 1829, female, listed as being an idiot 4) Wiley Cameron, born 1834 5) Unknown Male Cameron, born abt. 1837, possibly the Sloan Cameron listed in Co. K of the 52nd Georgia Infantry-- the same unit as Alvin D. Cameron (see below). Sloan was KIA at Vicksburg in 1862. 6) Alvin D. Cameron, born 1838, captured at Vicksburg in 1862, paroled there in 1863. He surrendered at Greensboro, NC on April 26, 1865. 7) Mary Cameron, born 1839 8) Valentine Cameron, born 1840 9) Sarah E. Cameron, born August 8, 1844, married J.P. Ayers in 1865 Duncan and Sarah's children: 1) Thomas T. Cameron, born 1847 Any and all information will be gratefully received, David Lineberger Athens, Georgia david168@bellsouth.net

    1. I search of Guest
    2. Gerald Benton
    3. Hello, My name is Gerald Benton. My ggm on my mothers side was Cordelia Guest, born Jan 31, 1894. She had a twin sister by the name of Cornelia. They born in North Central Texas upon the banks of the Brazos river. I'm searching for thier parents. I've been told the family story of a brother who was born in a unknown location in Georgia. That the line was from a group of three brothers that came america, and changed thier names to Guest, Guess, and Gist upon arrival, and thier separate ways. I believe I've identified some Guest who arrived in the Franklin area about 1840 that were relations of mine. I was wondering if anyone might have information I might be able to back track to my ggm. Maybe old family records, or like mine stories that would help me out. If I rambled I'm sorry, once the search begins adiction is soon to follow. Thanks Gerald Benton

    3. Greeting, A wise man once said, To error is human, to forgive, Devine. I say, “To error means there’s a record, and to find it, divine”. Franklin County Georgia has been to me a remarkable web site and presence. Jean’s dedication and talent to the Mailing list and Web site utterly surpasses human expectations. Let’s all concur and keep in mind forever our appreciation for the work she has done. So much work goes on in the background to keep the sites up and running. This may seem be an exit to some folks. However, Jean is currently Regional Coordinator and won’t be far away when we need some help. I’m sure I’ll be sending her questions like how do I, and what do I do if. Probly right after I send this one out. So with that said, A little on the Status of the Web site. It’s in great shape. She has transferred the list and it seems to be stable. Let’s lets this suffice as group reassurance to her. We appreciate all the things she has done. And continues to do for us. Ok, a little about my self, I am evenhandedly descended from several lines out of Franklin, Hart, and Pendleton or Otherwise the Old 96. The lines that I am researching include several Names. Stephenson/Stevenson, Bailey, Miller, Castleberry, and Wansley from the region. But my main focus in this correspondence will be thanking Jean Jones. It is my intent to try to assist all with what time will allow. Post and Moderate interesting things and content to the group. Ask about things concerning genealogy, history or other related matters concerning Franklin Counties yesteryear. I will post or update the web site as time allows. My other responsibilities included the Stephens County Web Site. I will be doing that site as well. I hope that I can assist the group in posting information that can help in the research area. It is great to be given the chance to moderate, guide, and post. This such is my wish that all, everyone, anyone will feel free to post. Ask questions concerning Franklin County. With the entire above stated, and with the mind to further the resources of our web site. Let us all share and learn. There are around 300 people on the list. So making connections should be possible.
