    1. Roll Call BELL/KELLEY
    2. Fran or Tom Bay
    3. Am seeking ANY information about Annie Bell Kelly who died, possibly in Franklin County, "shortly after the birth" of her daughter Annie Lenora Kelly on 10 February 1908. Annie Bell married Joseph J. Kelly in 1907 in Atlanta. The baby Annie Lenora Kelly was raised by her grandparents, James and Mary Elizabeth Poole Kelly, on their farm just outside Carnesville. Annie Lenora Kelly attended Franklin County schools and married Jones B. Coe of Eastanollee. They moved to Ohio abt 1928. Annie Bell Kelly is a real mystery. Her mother was Mrs. M. A. Bell, first name thought to be Mary, somewhere in Georgia. I've been unable to find anything about Annie Bell Kelly or her family: death records, newspaper obits, gravesites ... any information or ideas about where to look next would be greatly appreciated Frances Coe Bay tbay@columbus.rr.com

    3. Martha, Do you show any of your PAYNE's marrying a SANDERS pre 1790 (maybe a Mary Sanders)? There was a Jonathan Payne listed in John Wm Baker's book on the, "History of Hart County" that says he had land next to my Elias Sanders who it says got his land in 1808. Could you be related to him? Gale >>>my brick wall is Nancy Fleming PAYNE, b ~1801/2 maybe in Warren Co, NC She married Benjamin THORNTON (b 15 aug. 1801, Warren Co. NC) on 16 Sept. 1819 in Elbert Co. Ga. and died there in 1850-64. Does anyone have any idea who her parents or siblings could be? 1. Earliest records in GA, and Wofford Settlers?
    2. L Gale Sanders
    3. I am trying to put together, in my own mind, the earliest records of how Georgia was settled. My ancester came to Georgia when he was young how young, I don't know for sure at this time. He was born in 1775. It appears that he lived in the NORTHEASTERN part of Georgia although I may find that he came into GA some other way/area, he lived and died in the NORTHEASTERN part. (I say this only due to the fact that he did get land in some land lotteries in APPLING CO, and his son in IRWIN CO., which is in the SOUTHERN part of Georgia but I don't believe they ever lived there, please correct me if I'm wrong.) John William Baker wrote in his book in 1933 that Elias was buried in his family burying ground that was near the Hartwell Railway trestle on the right side of Big Lightwoodlog Creek. It says this was the site of the pioneer home and that the burying ground contained several members of his family. (anyone know who they were?) Elias lived in the area that became Franklin, Elbert and then Hart Co. Does anyone know of any indian camps that would have been in this area? Looking at old maps, it seems that the Cherokee Indians hunting grounds were not that far away from this area. Does anyone know the history of the area? Early history is what I'm looking for. Or can you recommend any good books on the subject. Also, I remember seeing where you could order old maps, one in particular said it'd show the old settlers and where their homested's were. Has anyone else heard of this and do you know how/where to order them? Where was the WOFFORD SETTLEMENT and if it was an early settlement (1700's) what were the others. Is there information on line that shows the persons in this settlement? Thanks for any responses!! 1. Re: GAFRANKL-D Digest V00 #106
    2. Hi Gale - To add to what Pat has already said about the Human's in Jackson Co., there was a will for Henry D. Human in Jackson Co. dated in 1877. Had adopted dau. Nancy Jane Human, wife Sarah Ann Human, grandson Oscar M. Human mentioned in his will. Don't believe this line was in Jackson Co. real early, but I did meet a Mr. Human in the courthouse one day researching the Human line. There were also Human's in the deed records of Elbert Co., as early as 1791. 1. Roll Call
    2. I am researching the surname Walker. My Walker family were in Smith Co MS in the 1850 census. Children of the family had been born in GA, AL, MS. It is also thought that the family may have lived in TN at one time. Rachel Walker was listed in the 1850 Smith Co MS census as age 52 born in SC. She was living with her son (my great grandfather) John Hersey Walker and his wife Frances (Wells) Walker. The younger couple had no children at that time. Later (and after the death of Rachel) this Walker couple and their three (or four) sons born in MS moved to Milam Co TX. They had a total of six sons. Four of the siblings of the family of Rachel Walker married with Westbrooks. It is believed that the Westbrook family was related to the Westbrook family in Franklin Co GA. I seek the name of Rachel Walker's husband and his family. It has been concluded (though not proven) that Rachel Was the daughter of Valentine and Nancy Martin. Members of this Martin family were living in Smith Co MS in 1850 also. Beth Walker Shipman
