I would be interested in this information as well to see if my ancestor Elias Sanders or someone from his line might have been a member of the church. The old Hebron church existed from 1706 to 1802 when the new Hebron Presbyterian Church was started on the other side of the James McCarter plantation. These churches were a part of the Hopewell Presbytery of Wilkes Co. GA Hebron Church sponsored several churches in the surrounding area including Mt. Hermon Presbyterian Church in Ila, Ga. Could someone tell me if the records for the old Hebron church can be found? Where would these records have gone, if a new church was built? HI all, My husband would like to become a member of the SAR, (Sons of the American Revolution). Every generation must be proven back to the Patriot. In my husband's case, I am needing to make the parentage connection between Jacob Whisenant b abt 1775 in NC (in 1840 Frankin Co census) married Elizabeth ? and his son, Joseph Henry Whisenant b. 12/18/1813-Franklin Co., GA - who married Permelia Collins in Franklin Co., GA in 1836. The information I have is that Jacob Whisenant died after 1860 in Stephens Ga and is buried in Ebenezer Cem. I have been unable to find Jacob after the 1840 census. Would anybody have access to the tombstone inscriptions of the Ebenezer Cem.? I do not know what County "Ebenezer Cemetery" is located. I am looking for information on both Jacob Whisenant b abt 1775 to Elizabeth and his son Joseph Henry Whisenant b 12/18/1813 Franklin Co GA - died 2/11/1895-TX married Permelia Arinda Collins b 7/29/1818 Habersham Co., If anybody would have any lookups that would show these folks, I would sincerely appreciate hearing from you. I would be more than glad to pay for copies/postage, etc. Sincerely, Lauva Currier Seguin, TX _________________________________________________________________
Ever though of sharing those old photos? This was posted on the rootsweb board message board. If anyone is intrested to give it a try, I will set a link of the Stephens, or Franklin County Page, PUTTING PHOTOS ONLINE I have hundreds of photos & documents to add to my tree, and want to know exactly the best way to proceed. I've read explanations of digital imaging online but I still feel I'm missing something. I understand I need photo editing software to fool around with pictures once they're in my computer, but this is where I want to be positive is a scanner the only or best way to get them in there? We have a digital camera but I'm not sure photographing the photos would result in good quality. Thank you for your service, Adding your photos to your genealogy Web site is a wonderful idea. Using your digital camera will be fine, if the images are a good quality. You'll only know that if you try it. You don't need too much software to get started with photos. You probably received software with your digital camera that will work if you aren't trying to do anything fancier than resizing, compressing and cropping. As you gain expertise, you might want to get one of the more involved graphics programs for adding special effects to the pictures. You can get free Web space for your site and photos at Freepages@RootsWeb. Documents can be treated as a graphic and you can either photograph or scan them, but many documents will be difficult to read online and you'll want to transcribe or abstract the information to go along with the image. Be sure to include citations with any photos or documents that you put online, just as you would do if they were in paper format. Reply-To: Harold Bagnall <hrbagnall@worldnet.att.net> hrbagnall@worldnet.att.net I am researching my family tree. My grandfather was Hubert "Kirby" Duck bor 26 November 1908, his mother was Vanna Verrit or Birdit; father Pink Duck. Vanna died in the early 1970 or late 1960's she has one daughter Madalou Van Pelt, who lives in Cannon. I have not found them included in any of the on-line records. The family name was changed by my grandfather to Duckworth when he moved to south Georgia, then when he returned to Royston, he dropped the worth. Could you point me in the right direction. Thank you for any time or help that you offer. Rebecca Aldrich-Bagnall nee Rebecca J. The next quarterly (usually) revision of the Old Pendleton District Database cd will be mailed on 15 March 2001. All outstanding requests will be filled at that time. The OPD Database is a project of the Old Pendleton District Chapter/SCGS and is based on a single gedcom containing over 300,000 names of those who lived in the OPD (+ancestors+descendants). The OPD was comprised of the area now occupied by the 3 westernmost counties of SC. Adjacent counties are GA and NC in addition to SC. To see more about the OPDC/SCGS, see: http://oldpendleton.homestead.com/index.html To see more about the inexpensive OPD database cd, see: http://jrshelby.com/opdcd/ This cd project had prior approval by Rootsweb before its initiation.
Dear Temple researchers: We tried to sent attached photos that we suspect maybe Seabron & Rebecca Temples's house c. 1900 and possible 50th Wedding Anniversary photo c. 1893 for help identifying them. They lived in Edgefield Co, SC all their lives. Because of the size of these files, many messages were bounced. To even send these file at all, I had to reduce their size by over half to about the size of a post card. I would recommend that interested parties should contact me directly and I will arrange for copies to be mailed to them in the larger format. This has all been very furstrating when we are trying to get this out via the internet to many viewers to help with identifying these pictures. I appreciate all those who have contacted me so far. It makes you wonder who the FBI gets out their "Most wanted"? Robert Temples
Dear Temples Researchers: We tried to attached the photo of this house as a JPEG.file, but Rootsweb doesn't permit this. So would interested parties please contact me privately with their addresses so that copies could be sent you. We recently received a copy of a tin-style photograph from Gloria Kahrs that she said her mother thought it was of Seabron & Rebecca Temples that lived in Edgefield County, SC their whole lives. We have attached the photo as a JPEG.file. Rebecca died December 2, 1894. So, if this them, it would have been taken prior to this dated. They were married about 1843 and this may have been their 50th Wedding Anniversary picture. Gloria did say that her mother did think it was of a Temples family. If anyone can identify this picture, its time period, or the family, please contact me. Robert Temples Lynnwood, Washington
Dear Temple Researchers: We tried to attached the photo of this house as a JPEG.file, but Rootsweb doesn't permit this. So would interested parties please contact me privately with their addresses so that copies could be sent you. We recently received a photograph from Gloria Kahrs that she said her mother thought it was the "Temples House" that Seabron Temples lived at in Edgefield County, SC. After further research we suspect this maybe Seabron Temples with his daughter, Elender Caroline Temples (Ella), her husband, children, and an un-identified young lady (the lady with the darker plaid dress) around 1900. Based on the approx. time period, this maybe Seabron when he is living as a widower on his farm with his daughter and son-n-law, Wilson Johnston, around 1895-1905, (they were married in 1879). 1900 Census record, Edgefield Co., SC: "Wilson Johnston, head of household, white, male, born May 1850, age 50, married 21 years, born in South Carolina (SC), parents born in SC, farmer, looks like rented the farm, farm schedule 287; Ella, wife, white, female, born May 1862, age 38, married 21 years, 6 children born, 6 living, born in SC along with parents, can read and write; Octavia, daughter, white, female, born Dec 1880, age 19,single, born in SC, farm laborer, 3 months not employed, can read and write; Hattie, daughter, white, female, born Dec 1881, age 18, single, born in SC, farm laborer, 3 months not employed, can read and write; Donnie, daughter, white, female, born Sep. 1882, age 17, single, born in SC, farm laborer, 3 months not employed, can read and write; Eva, daughter, white, female, born Feb. 1889, age 11, single, born in SC, farm laborer, 6 months not employed, 3 months in school, can read and write; Barney, son, white, male, born Sep. 1891, age 8, single, born in SC; James, son, white, male, born Oct. 1896, age 3, single, born in SC; Stephens, father-in-law, white, male, born Apr. 1821, age 79, widower, born in SC, parents born in SC, can read and write." In the photo there are seven children shown. I am guessing on this one, that the second lady to the right of the older gentleman (Seabron we hope), she has a dress quite different from the rest, is a family friend or related family member. Under a magnifying glass she is one without an umbrella and or bible in hand. That would make this picture taken around 1900 with Seabron 79 years of age. He lived until 1906. We need to verify this, but it seems to fit the picture of this family around 1900 pretty closely. If anyone can identify this picture, its time period, or the family, we would be very grateful. Gloria did say that her mother did thought it was of a Temples's family. Please contact me if this looks familiar. Robert Temples
