    1. [GAFRANKL] Brazzel/Burnett
    2. Pickett
    3. I am researching my Brazzel/Braswell and Burnett connections in Franklin Co GA. William Brazil/Braswell and Joshua Burnett were in Franklin Co as early as 1784. In 1798 they were listed in the tax digest in district #7 and then in 1800 also in tax digest living next door to each other. By 1801 they had sold their land and moved on to probably Burke Co NC. Other names associated with them are William Wilson, Morris Roberts, Cornelius Bogard, William Quillan. If anyone is researching these I would love to share info. Karen

    1. [GAFRANKL] Tax for E-mail Hoax
    2. Norman H. Ricker, Jr.
    3. I wrote my Congressman concerning the E-mail messages that seem no ending spreading rumors regarding legislation to establish a fee for E-mail use. In hopes of curtailing this junk mail, I would like to share Congressman Bill Young's response with you. Lets stop forwarding these messages and reduce the traffic on our genealogy E-mail lists. "Dear Colonel Ricker: "Thank you for sharing with me your concerns about several rumors regarding legislation that would charge a fee for using e-mail. "You will be pleased to know both Bill 602P, legislation supposedly sponsored by the Postal Service asking for a surcharge on e-mail, and a measure that would create a tax on long distance e-mails are merely rumors circulating across the internet. Please be assured there are no such bills pending consideration before the House, and I would be steadfastly opposed to any similar legislation should it be introduced. "In an effort to be of all possible assistance, I have taken the liberty of enclosing a press release circulated by the United States Postal Service on one of these issues. It is my hope you will find this informative. "Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding these important matters of mutual concern. With best wishes and personal regards, I am Very truly yours /S/ C. W. Bill Young Member of Congress" UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE POSTAL NEWS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 21, 1999 Release No. 45 E-MAIL RUMOR COMPLETELY UNTRUE "WASHINGTON A completely false rumor concerning the U.S. Postal Service is being circulated on Internet e-mail. As a matter of fact, the Postal Service has learned that a similar hoax occurred recently in Canada concerning Canada Post. "The e-mail message claims that a "Congressman Schnell" has introduced "Bill 602P" to allow the federal government to impose a 5-cent surcharge on each e-mail message delivered over the Internet. The money would be collected by Internet Service Providers and then turned over to the Postal Service. "No such proposed legislation exists. In fact, no "Congressman Schnell" exists. "The U.S. Postal Service has no authority to surcharge e-mail messages sent over the Internet, nor would it support such legislation."

    3. Okay, here are my Franklin County connections: James Catlett Garrison (b. 1810-1818 in Franklin County, Ga. d. 4/18/1891 in Morgan County, Al.) married Sarah Deliliah Tate (b.1824 in Ga. d. 3/29/1891 in Morgan County, Al.) in Dahlonega, Lumpkin County, Ga. 9/6/1841. James Catlett Garrison was the son of Thomas Wesley Garrison and the grandson of Jedidiah Garrison. I have lots of information on the Garrison family but Sarah is my brick wall. I believe she may have had a brother named William or Billy. That's all I know about her. If anyone is researching this Garrison/Tate family I would love to know if you have been able to discover anything further on Sarah. 2. Charles and Jimmie
    3. I have a marriage record for Stephen BRAMBLET who married Martha Andrews 22 Sep 1818, Franklin County, GA. I, also, have Stephen BRUMLEY'S papers from the National Archives which state that he served in the War of 1812 from Franklin County, GA. I believe Martha was the daughter of Owen Andrews. Owen Andrews filed a pension application for his service in the Rev. War. In the application filed in Gwinnett County, GA Owen said that he had previously lived in Franklin County. The 1830 Gwinnett County, GA census lists Stephen BRUMLEY--not BRAMBLET and Owen Andrews on the same page of that census. Would like to know if Stephen Bramblet and Stephen Brumley are one and the same person. Thanks in advance for your help. Will share. Jimmie

    2. Laura F. Mills
    3. Ruth, I am interested in Seaborn, the attorney and his dealings with Thomas Carnes. I suspect he was Thomas's attorney for GA land dealings etc. More importantly for my research I'm interested is Seaborn's association with my Benjamin, Dr Henry, Joel and Frederick Freeman lines. James W. Jones as an editor for the Augusta Chronicle and was the best man in Dr Henry Freeman's wedding, 11 Jan 1820, to Pamelia F. Cook, d/o George Cook, attorney in Elbert Co. Could this be your James/Celia? FYI, Henry was born 16 Dec 1795, d 13 Dec 1862 in Franklin Co. My families were in and around Franklin, Clarke, Jackson, Baldwin, Madison, Hancock Co.. Another Jones that I have been interested in is Dudley (and wife Clarissa) Jones, Franklin Co at the same time as Henry. Dudley was a patient of Henry's and after his death I think Henry's family lived next door. Henry names a daughter Clarissa Louisa Freeman. All are in the Carnesville, Franklin Co GA area. The series of books "Men of Mark in Georgia" by William J. Northern there is a bio of Seaborn Jones, Vol 2 pg 236-242 and there is a photo. I haven't gotten the correct volume yet as I have to order things through Interlibrary loan. Other Jones listed are: Noble, v.1 pg 195-207, Noble W., v. 1 pg 208-218 George, v. 2 342-344, James, v. 2 pg 360-361, John, v. 2 pg. 128-129, David Rumph, v.3, pg 538-542, Charles Colcock Jr, vol 3 p 437-463, Samuel Porter, v. 5 pg 373-376, Enoch Callaway, v,7 pg 311-314, Note that Seaborn, John, James and George are all listed in the same volume. Perhaps they are related. I hope to hear from you. Laura Freeman Mills lfmills@ucdavis.edu cc: to the lists in case this helps others >Posted on: Baldwin Co.
