Isn't there an 1820 Reconstructed Census for Franklin County, GA? If I remember right, it does not give a lot of info, but it does give the districts they lived in if they are listed, if I remember right. gayle
> I see you are listed for 1850 census look ups. Do you know anyone that > can do 1820 Franklin Co. look ups I don't think this is possible. The early federal census for Franklin County were lost...... destroyed.......mislaid.......hidden from us because they knew we'd want them ;-)....... The first actual census for Franklin County Georgia is the 1830 Census. There have been attempts at reconstruction of earlier census years. 1790 I believe.... and then there are tax records......Thank goodness these were preserved! Jean Jones CC Franklin Co., GA
Can anyone on the list help Phillip? The only census I have is 1850. Thanks. Lynne in the beautiful northeast GA mountains To: chick@hemc.net Subject: Franklin Co. He is listed as living in the "Cherokee Intruders" Limestone Settlement in 1809. The 1830 census lists him as living in Cherokee, GA. He married Kezia Stokes (Connelly), widow of Charles Connelly of NC. Children were: Hezekiah, Lucy, Samuel III, Elizabeth, Joseph, Polly, and John Willis. Samuel died in 1845 in Franklin County, GA. The land on which he lived later became part of Banks County, GA when Banks County was formed. Does anyone know where the Limestone Settlement was located? Those people living in the settlement were required to have official permission from and be registered with the U.S. government's Cherokee agent. Deb Kroll
Sorry Folks I posted that Jackson County was formed from Franklin County, in 1784 and the year should have been 1796 sorry for the typo. Warm Regards, Belinda http://www.genealogybin.com/
1797/99 - 1802 TAX DIGEST FOR JACKSON COUNTY, GEORGIA, Vol. 1 - by Belinda Savadge. 8 1/2" x 11", sftbnd, 374 pages, fully indexed. It has what could be found of the 1797, 1799 and all of the 1802 Tax Digest, 1800 & 1801 are missing and not in the Courthouse. This book contains 949 surnames and over 1200 individuals. The Tax Digest list the Tax Payers Name, the Quality of Land, To Whom the Land was Granted, which County the Land was in, the Water Way, Whose Land it Joined, Number of Slaves they owned, Town Lots they owned, Stock in Trade, the Tax they paid and if they only paid a Poll Tax. Hello, Does anyone out there have not just the index with one name but access to information on wills? Some books have a short summary of names the will contained. I don't know what it's called. I am looking for Thomas Carter, Sr born 1753 and died 1810 in Franklin Co, GA. He was married to either Mary ?, or Molly (Chilton?). I would very much like to know the children his will would shows if any are shown. Or anything else of value when you're looking for relationships. Even the witnesses could be important. Thank you for any possible help. Gale Sanders ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
