David, While working with old Baptist church records, in the early years the person usually took their church letter with them as they moved. In Mt. Tabor's records that are some references to persons who had moved and had not taken their letter with them. Have you looked in Cherokee County census' for those years, Friendship is not that far from the county line, and I have discovered sometimes the census takers did know specifically where the county line was.
