Seems some people have different spellings for old names. I've been through this over the years and learned basically this. #5 - There were no computers is the 1400's, 1500's, 1600's, 1700's, 1800's, and the 1900's until the 1960's. And there were no personal computers until the late 1970's. #4 - Everyone makes mistakes, especially the average typist. #4A - There were dyslexic people before the 1990's. #4B - US Census takers are paid less than minimum wages. #3 - Handwriting/penmanship/cursive varies between persons, languages, mood swings, full moon, etc. It always has, and it always will. #2 - The most slaughtered letters in lower case handwriting are: .. o looks like a .. a looks like o .. a looks like u .. u looks like a .. b written instead of d .. d written instead of b. #1 - In European languages like German & Spanish, vowels have a dot, dots, or dash (umlats for example) above the basic letters and are rarely translated to English. ESPECIALLY on the Internet at American web sites. Feel free to spread this message far and wide. ____________________________________________________________________ Download NET DETECTIVE 2000 at http://www.usgenealogy.com/netdet2k/ ------- End of forwarded message ------- ==== MDFREDER Mailing List ==== OLD FREDERICK COUNTY, MD WEB PAGE http://members.aol.com/midmdroots/frederick/index.htm Court Records, Cemetery Inscriptions, Lookups and Queries! --part1_0.515b5033.25467309_boundary--
