    1. [GAFORSYT-L] Lake Lanier/Garretts/Bennetts
    2. Lee and Billie Jones
    3. My Garrett ancestors owned land on the banks of the River, part in Forsyth and part in Hall Co. that was flooded by the River. I would be interested if any Garretts /Bennetts were left under the waters of Lake Lanier. My John S. GARRETT is buried at Old Salem Church Cem., Cumming, Ga. Forsyth Co. There may be others who were moved that are buried there. I do not know where his wife Elizabeth "Betsy" BENNETT b. 6 Sept 1819 - d. 30 Dec. 1902 is buried. If anyone has a cemetery book for Forsyth Co or Hall Co, I would appreciate a lookup for this. As for Lake Lanier, I found this site [http://www.sam.usace.army.mil/sam/op/rec/lanier/default.html] and went to The Story of Lake Lanier. It states that the construction of Buford Dam and the three smaller adjacent dams began in 1953. I wrote an email to an address given for the corps of Engineers and asked. Will post their reply.
