    3. Ok suppose I contacted the Forsyth Co Courthouse and asked if in 1840 so and so owned land would they be able to help me at all in any way or is this something I would need to pay someone to find for me. Or should I make a trip there in person? Thanks, Gail ----- Original Message ----- From: <MFLP@aol.com> To: <GAFORSYT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, October 24, 2002 5:42 PM Subject: Re: [GAFORSYT] Thursday October 24 1853 Tax Rolls > In a message dated 10/24/02 4:00:29 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > embracer@strato.net writes: > > > How would I search Forsyth Co. 3. Searching for property records: I suggest checking with your nearest LDS Family History Center. It is normally possible for the Family History Center to order film from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City for a nominal fee. You will then be able to read the film at the Family History Center. The following information is copied from the LDS site on the internet: Topic: Georgia, Forsyth - Land and property Titles: Homestead records, 1868-1903 Georgia. Secretary of State Land records, deeds and mortgages, 1832-1904, with general index, 1887-1901 Forsyth County (Georgia). Superior Court Clerk ----- Homestead records appears to be only one roll of film. Land records, deeds and morgages is several rolls of film. The first roll is an index. The remaining rolls appear to have two years of records on each roll. The Family History Center volunteers are normally friendly and helpful. They will be happy to advise you how to conduct your search most efficiently and economically. Good Luck.
