Wanda Collins, Program Chairman for the Historical Society of Forsyth County has kindly invited me to speak at the September meeting. The Society meets the 1st Tuesday of each month at the Library. That would be Sept. 3, 2002. The day after Labor Day. If you are in the area, you are welcome to attend. The topic will be "Researching in Forsyth" and will be stories about my 32 years of researching in Forsyth rather than actual "how to". Some of the stories that come to mind are "The day I spent with Forest Wade and Georgia Camera" "Looking at Gold treasure Signs with Broughton Wallace" subtopic "Why the judge was late to my daughters wedding" "Going with Garland Bagley to photgraph a fish trap" "The old Indian Ghost on Highway 20" "Mrs. Ellene Kemp and the Silver Waybill" "J. C. Gazaway comes to douse my well" "The Saddle Rock below the Dam" "The Gold Mines" "Anne Ferguson and Forest Wade and ............" "Miss Leona Hughes and the Carruths" "Hunting the civil war veterans that lived past 1940 for Prof. Hoar" "Freddie Stokley and the Belgian Camera crew" Now you can see I am already overtime, so you will just have to come to find out which ones I tell. Donna, What time? I'm hoping I won't be picked for jury duty that day so I can come!
