I was just informed that the Cool Springs Cemetery adjacent to the Lake Forest subdivision has centerline road stakes going up into the cemetery. Is this correct? How can Forsyth County allow graves to be desecrated in such a manner as to be paved over for a new subdivision road? This is very bad planning on someone's part and I trust will not be allowed to happen. Just because graves are marked with field stones does not mean that they are abandoned. I am quite positive that all of those graves are still quite occupied. When those persons died, they believed that they would have eternal peace, not a roadbed going over their bones, desecrating their memories. My family were original settlers in that are (Forsyth and Milton Counties). Numerous graves in my family still remain unmarked to this day. They paid with their sweat and lives to help Forsyth County progress into what it has became today. Those buried there and the family deserve better than this.
