    3. This may very well be William Martin Jr. son of William Martin Sr. and his yet unknown wife. 1. William Martin, Sr. Neither his birthplace or date of birth are known. But he was living in Brunswick Co., VA on May 11, 1755 when his son Thomas Martin, Sr. was born. (My line) He later moved to Shatham Co., NC and bought 260 acres on the Haw River for sixty pounds on Nov. 6, 1784 from William Spurlin. William Martin, Sr. received a grant from the State of NC on Sept. 23, 1785 for 314 acres on the Haw River in return for the sum of fifty shillings per hundred acres. William Martin, Sr. died before July 23, 1795 for on that date his sons, Thomas Martin, SR. and William Martin Jr., are given as heirs when they sold the land he had recieved in the grant. Chatham Co., NC Deed records Book C, page 312. There is a bit more and I may can get this too you if you think it may help you out some. This man is related to Hix Martin who married Margaret Casey in 1844 in Forsyth Co. GA!! This does tie in somehow to what you want. Let me hear from you and get a off list e-mail for you please.
