If you have Hix Martin on the 1840 Census as taken from Microcopy No. 704 Roll 41 I would be glad to know what page he is on. Hix Martin on the 1850 census is 28 so in 1840 he would have been 18. There are about 12 Martin males in that age bracket on the Forsyth 1840. He did not marry until 1844 so he might not show as a head of household in 1840, if he had made it to Forsyth by then. Martin 1 M GA Thomas Martin, Jr., Hick's Father's will was probated in York District, South Carolina on 6 August 1855 and Henderson Martin was appointed Administrator. Hicks and Margaret (Casey) Martin moved from Forsyth County to Cherokee County, Georgia and then to Carroll County, Georgia. Valentine Martin (can not prove the connection) sold Number 235 in the tenth district of Carroll County to Hicks Martin on 15 August 1856. Hicks paid $300 for 101 1/4 acres. This is the original Martin home place next door to J. Roy Martin. Then over on page 89 is a photo of Hicks Martin in his younger days. Below that is thought to be a photo of Thomas Martin Jr. Hicks' Father. Hicks Martin MG signed the marriage Licenses of my Father's Parents in Carroll County GA as he married them there in Mt. Zion at the Methodist Church that he helped to name when it was founded. This marriage took place on Oct. 21, 1900. Hicks and Margaret Martin also had Cordillia Martin who grew up and married James Amos Entriken right there in Carroll County, GA. I also have the Entriken Family History done by a cousin Philip Entriken and Can quote from that if you'd like.     3. OH I see your saying the 1840 sorry about that, on the 1840 I meant where is Isaac Casey then? Not Hix Martin as he would still be living in his Fathers house I would assume. That was my typo...............like I said was that part also a typo or where they not found on the 1840 at all? This is where I am at so far: Isaac Casey I have him on the 1820 Census SC Spartanburg, SC on page 269 (my reasoning for checking for him there at this time was due to and I again quote from the book "The Family History of Thomas Martin, Sr. A North Carolinian American Revolutionary Soldier" by Jenny Martin Fagg p. 88) Hicks Martin (5. Thomas Martin, Jr., Thomas Martin, Sr., William Martin, Sr.) was born 10 March, 1822 in York Dist. SC and died 4 June 1914 in Mt. Zion, Carroll County, GA. Hicks married Margaret Casey 7 January 1844 in Forsyth Co., GA. She was born 24 December 1821 in South Carolina, probably Spartanburg Dist. and died 24 February 1903 in Mt. Zion, Carroll Co. GA. They are both buried in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery. Margaret is the Daughter of Isaac and Dicey (______) Casey. As you can see Spartanburg Dist. SC and Isaac Casey began my interest right here in this quoted section of this book as Margaret Casey Martin and Hicks Martin were my GGGreat Grandparents) So on this 1820 Census his numbers are as such: 10001040100 no slaves On this same page are listed: Jesse, Joseph, Wm., and Randolph Casey as well. In 1830 he is found in Laurens Co. SC and happens to show up on the same page with a ton of Dalrymples who also join into this family of mine later on down the line. His numbers on this census are as follows: 001010001- - - 010011 - - - - - - His name is Isaac Case (sic) On the 1840 Census I found him in Forsyth Co. But Isaac is already living here in Forsyth Co. Ga and has been for some time now. By the magic 1850 Census we now see them right on the same page and right down the street from each other. I also noted that a lot of folks named Gober live nearby do they some how connect into these families some how?? Who is Martha still living in the home at age 40 she could not be a child of Dicey's I would not think and note the surname does not change for her as it did for William Jackson age 8. So she appears to be a Casey so is she Isaac's Sister or is she his child by a former marraige? Living at #818 is a Jno W.
