Hi Richard, We did have a James Stone. On Donna's site for Forsyth is the 1850 census among others, and our family unit at that time was: Wiley and Candas, parents Wesley James Francis Asbury Wm Pitchford (ggf) next door, married to Ben Wilson , was their older sis, Elender We know that Francis A and Wm P served in the 28th Alabama Inf. We know James and Wesley also served in the CSA but not for sure just where. When all was over, the Stones moved to AR. Wiley and James and Francis are found in Boone Co in 1870. Wm is in Searcy. In 1880, our James is married to Harriett and living in Boone Co, AR still. Can't find him in 1900. As I recall he had a son named Henry, but I can't find his family group just now when I would like to put it down for you. An earlier genealogist in our family had a note on his work that James had committed suicide in AR. If so it would have to have happened after 1880. The big hole that the 1890 census loss created hits just at the wrong time again. Before gggf Wiley, who was born about 1803 in SC, probably Greenville area, we think the James Stone who was old enough to be his father and lived nearby in Forsyth (1850) and in Milton(1860) WAS his father. He seems to trace back to SC to a father named William himself. I don't have a wife's name for the James we think is Wiley's dad. It looks like we might connect to the Stones in early VA if we keep digging.
