    1. [GAFORSYT] Wednesday Oct 23- Heatherly, Dooley, Smith
    2. It is still dark out there at 7:32. The weather says it is foggy with a chance of rain. The house is comfortable in a pair of shorts with no heat on but with the windows closed. >From Donna's files: Joy Clark wrote "Nancy Dooley Heatherly, buried at Lebanon, died trying to give birth to her third child. The child was never born. James Heatherly went to Texas after her death, leaving their two small daughters here for a short time. He returned, married a Smith girl and carried his family back to Texas."

    3. My Forsyth families include: BRANNON: John(1), William(2), Cicero (who moved to Gwinnett Co) This family forms a brick wall in VA in the late 1690's. They migrated from Va sometime around 1740's to Johnston Co., NC and my branch (the one listed above) came to Forsyth sometime around 1825. Searching this family was made easier because of the press William generated in 1858-59. SHIRLEY: Benjamin Emazieh who was born in Abbeyville, SC in 1811 but died in Forsyth Co in 1886. His son Tribble and his daugher Vivian (my grandmother). This line deadends in Prince William, VA in 1768. WEBB: Joel (1837-1923); Sarah Magdaline (1872-1950) I haven't spent a lot of time researching this family so I have little information on them. Of course all of these families seem to migrate back and forth between Forsyth and Milton Counties as I assume a lot of our families do. All branches of my family made it easy for me. They have come from VA to either NC or SC to the Forsyth area with some in Gwinnett, Cherokee and Hall but no one outside of that area in any of 9 separate families I'm researching and everyone in my direct lines staying in the Forsyth Co area. Hi Donna, How about a roll call? I'm sure there are lots of new list members, as well as our dear friends who started with us on the list years ago. I'd also be interested in hearing where their families migrated from when moving to Forsyth County. While most of us enjoy surfing ancestry and genealogy sites on the web, there are older folks who can't, but do read list messages. I can't begin to tell you how many of my Dad's friends and family I have been in contact with, thanks to this list! My surname list includes; GUNTER, CRUSE, ROGERS, MATHIS, TESSENEER, GRAVITT, VAUGHN, CROW(E), BROWNLOW, HUGGINS, COOK, SAMS, SC(R)OGGIN, and more. Most came from VA>NC>SC>GA. I look forward to hearing from all of the list members! Brenda ambleside@mindspring.com P.S. Donna, how about listing your surnames? Even though they didn't(?) come through Forsyth, you might link up with another researcher! ==== GAFORSYT Mailing List ==== Forsyth County Georgia History and Records http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaforsyt/

    2. Jon Pace
    3. My Great, Great Grandfather, Jonathan PACE (Apr 1815 - Mar 1903), came to Forsyth County early in 1840 and married Mary THOMPSON (Aug 1818 - Nov 1886). They resided in the Ocee Community in what became Milton and the Fulton counties where they raised their family. They and several children are buried in the Old Bethlehem Cemetery in the middle of the Windward Development. Jonathan was the son of Cornelius PACE (1787 - Oct 1847) of Henderson/Buncombe/Rutherford counties, North Carolina and the grandson of Burrell PACE (1758 - 1816) from the same counties via, Spartanburg County, SC; Surry County, NC and Prince George County, VA. I am descended through their youngest son, George Robert PACE (Sep 1864 - Jun 1946) of Cobb County, GA. My interest in family and local history was passed on to me by a grand daughter, Corrine Mae PACE, who was born, raised and educated in Forsyth County. She was an assistant teacher for a period at the Bacon School as was her sister, Ruby Lee PACE. Both were first grade teachers for over 40 years most of the time in Marietta, GA. They were the youngest daughters of Henry Jackson PACE of Forsyth County, GA. Jonathan A.
