3. Hello, Joan: I received this a few days ago. If he hasn't already responded to your query, you might try Bill Calhoun. >From: bill calhoun <[email protected]> >Subject: O.C. Powell >Status: > >My grandmother's mother was Georgia Ann Powell b. 1855 and the only thing >anyone in the family knew was that her father had been killed when she was >about seven or eight years old.Actually i have found on the 1863 salt lists >for Bartow County that Eliza Powell was listed as the wife of a deceased >soldier, buy there is no record of him on the military rolls. She also noted >that Georgia Ann's mother had moved the family to Adairsville in Bartow >County, Ga. From this i found O.C. Powell and Eliza on the 1860 census of >Atlanta where he was listed as a carpenter. I lucked out looking at the >various counties and found the marriage of Oliver C. Powell and *Eliza >McCrary*. My trail has stopped here but i did find the other Oliver C. Powell >in Elbert and Madison Counties. This seemed like a heck of a coincidence. I >am saving your message in my Powell File and will continure to try and >connect this Powell. It could easily be that my O.C. could be a brother to >your Allen as the place and the time is just right. Thanks so much for >sending me this and if i find anything , i'll let you know. >THANKS Bill Calhoun Good luck in your research Daniel Jones >I am researching the McCrary Family that settled in Forsyth and Hall counties >in the 1830s. 1. [GAFORSYT-L] SURNAME List and Searching Forsyth-L
2. It is up to Brenda whether she wants to make a surname page on the Forsyth Genealogy Page. I have been making a private list to know which information would be most appropriate for me to post. The main idea was to let people on the list - over 200, know you are there and what you are interested in. By posting information to the maillist, people can go back and read it and get in touch with you later, just as you can on the query page. Did you know you can search the Forsyth Mailing List Archive? RootsW eb Mailing List Search: GAFORSYT This will take you to a search screen where you type in the name you are hunting and it will pull up the messages that contain that name. To read the entire message click on full after it and the whole message will show. Actually, you can search more than that. RootsWeb: Search Engines will let you search databases, other maillists, etc.
