    3. I have a David Umphrey who joined Mt. Tabor Baptist Church on December 8, 1866 by letter. Also, a William Umphrey(or Humphrey) who joined Mt. Tabor by experience on October 23, 1867, he was granted a letter of dismission in December 1874. William Humphrey appears near the end of the 1873 membership list, but David does not appear on any of the official membership lists. Hope that this helps, unfortunately I don't have any other information on these two men and no other members have the names Humphrey or Umphrey. 1. [GAFORSYT-L] Searching for SC records on line (like the Whitmire deed)
    2. ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/sc/ will take you to the usgenweb pages for SC . It takes a long time to load on my computer. The deed I sent on Whitmire, you click on Pickens Co, then on deeds. Then I told it to find in the top window Forsyth. (it was actually spelled Forsythe, but it picked it up). Some more of our people come up if you type in find Cherokee. Of course you can do it by names. If you have a surname that gets misspelled a lot search for part of the name, for example Whitm would bring up Whitmire and Whitmore, which is a common misspelling. I always type in McCr when I am hunting McCrackens-McCrackins-McCrakins. I look at a lot of McCrarys but then I don'e miss one that is misspelled. You can get into these lists another way but it is tedious.

I am going to send a separate Email on how to find the deed. Donna
