BURGESS family of CAVE SPRINGS Looking for info on John and Smith Burgess: Family tradition has the families of Jackson John Burgess and son Smith Burgess, ran a sawmill and furniture factory near Cave Springs. Sometime prior to 1858, the family was being treated unfriendly by the other inhabitants because the two men had married Cherokee women. As a result the family moved to Blount County County, Alabama.
