Clem, in attempting to find my Johnsons I found a Henry Johnson (my great grandfather's name) just north of Rome in the mountains. Henry's father was Alexander Johnson and in his (Alexander's) will he made provisions for the land an Enon Church was on. Alexander Johnson d: 11/1910 but this Johnson family had been owners of a lot of land in the Mts. just north of Rome GA.; around 126 acres or more! about 8 or 9 years ago I did a lot of research on this family but it turned out they are not my Johnsons after all. I have kept the info on these Johnsons in case I 'ran' across someone who would be interested in the info and would be happy to send copies if you would like. Happy Hunting, Jackie
Looking for info on African-American Shropsire's that possibly moved to Rome after the civil war. Particularly Matilda and Margaret who were formerly on the plantation of Wesley Shropshire of Chattooga County. They had a brother named Seab (Seaborn, Sebron) who lived in Cave Spring. I know that Matilda died in Rome area but can't locate death info. Any help with this family would be greatly appreciated . Dorothy Grigsby
