Just got off the phone with a very nice lady from Murphy & Harpst Center in Cedartown. A few records still exists, but very limited. A basement where records were kept was flooded and the government did not require as much paper work in the early years. The care of the children was more important than the paper work. Records from the Sunshine Cottage are lost, but if the child was at Ethel Harpst Home or Sarah D. Murphy Home, there might be a record. The advice I was given was for the person to call the center at 770-748-1500 or to write: Murphy & Harpst Center 740 Fletcher Street Cedartown, GA 30125 They will check their limited records and let you know what is available. I only asked about the older records as much of the new records are closed. Hope this helps. Doris Robbins Polk County, GA Volunteer
